Elderly man sitting on tree stump, with gourd and books and sword on back. Parts of figure has been gilded and rest is deep brown. The effect is like a partially gilded bronze. Impressed mark.

A conical hat is on his back. Overall underglaze blue with floral design on white background for his robe. Impressed mark on the bottom.

Porcelain vase with a tall foot, bulbous body, and neck that flares outwards then inwards at the top. Top portion has a landscape scene with two ladies and two warriors in polychrome on grey crackled surface. Lower portion has a battle scene with some men on horseback and some carrying spears, all on the same ground. Other motifs include flowers, cicada and the t'ao t'ieh handles.

He is carrying a sword (part c) in his right hand, and has two pike-like weapons (parts d-e) and a second sword (part f) attached to his belt. A gold bag (part b) trimmed with red is wrapped around his left wrist. (Head is removable--part g).
