AMEC Analysis: Artifact Type: Pipe Stem Comments: This artifact is a dark brown pipe stem. The Maker's Mark is visible on the stem - a triangle containing the letters W and D over a C. One bakelite pipe mouthpiece with a portion of the stem attached. Inverted equilateral triangle Maker's Mark with text inside: W.D. C. Made by William Demuth, Company in New York, NY. Remnants of smoking tobacco still inside stem. J. Dougherty 12/22/2009

Curtain Tieback45KI765/P14J-4

AMEC Analysis: Comments: This is either a very fancy drawer-pull or a decorative attachment of some type. It has a pewter metal rod with a bolt attachment on one end. The opposite end has a fancy molded-relief glass flower. The glass is tinted blue from cobalt. One glass and metal curtain tieback fragment and one glass fragment from same. Glass is clear with blue paint on exterior and possible gilding remnants. There is a brass nut securing the end, possible iron interior and pewter exterior. The largest fragment is labeled 45KI765/P14J-4a and the smaller fragment is labeled 45KI765P14J-4b. Metal is corroded, especially around glass junction and at far end. Glass has iridescence, especially around metal junction and on painted surface. L. Penttila 2/22/2010

AMEC Analysis: Comments: This artifact consists of three pieces of clear, flat glass. Each is approximately 2 inches and 1/16 inch thick. Three clear window pane glass fragments. Largest fragment labeled 45KI765/P9-55a, middle fragment labeled 45KI765/P9-55b, smallest fragment labeled 45KI765-P9/55c. Brown and black discoloration and tan accretions on surfaces of all three fragments. J. Dougherty 12/09/2009

Stamped decoration includes scalloped red and green floral pattern. Gilt hand painted on rim. Maker's Mark: ENGLAND W.H. GRINDLEY & CO.
