Three joined cedar pieces: main one is shaped like a forehead. On front, slanting up towards centre are eyes: slightly l-shaped, orange-coloured ovoids, recessed, with black banded, elevated pupils. Black eyebrows above. Long recessed mouth surrounded by black form line. Large red teeth in variant u form. Coloured fields of facial features separated by white. Four nails in piece's front. Space between eyes spread with adhesive for attaching piece. Extending outwards from nose area, piece has three projections in red, black, and white; black one has bulbous end. Hinged on top at back of main piece are two articulated three-feather wings, both sides painted with red, black, and white u forms. Wings attached to main piece by leather pieces nailed on and rigged with fibre cord. White overall has yellowed. Leather is brittle.

Wooden wolf headdress, or mask, in two cedar pieces joined lengthwise by nails. Hollowed out. Skull area slopes slightly to form muzzle, ending in red nose with hollowed out nostrils angled slightly upward and outward. In relief, long, straight, thick, black brows over recessed green ovoids surrounding white and black eyes. Mouth, length of muzzle to directly under eye socket, is all teeth, marked off by red grooves and red lips. Rest of mask in black and some red. Cloth bits attached to nail heads circling skull. Top of head left with roughened holes where ears once were. Whitened marks cover paint which is faded in some areas. Short length of cord is knotted on interior through two pierced holes.

Wooden wolf headdress, or mask, consisting of one cedar piece hollowed out; skull area is concave hollow. Large brow area tapers into elongated muzzle, nose angled upward and outward. The mouth has its all teeth, marked off by orange grooves and light green lips. Large dark green ovoids around eyes. Orange nose bordered by green, incised grooves separate fields. Rest of mask in black form line. Cloth bits and fibre near nail heads, most on top of head. The mask is painted black, green, red and blue with Northwest Coast stylized designs.

LoomSa200 a-h

Back strap loom (parts a-h) with associated pieces. An unfinished textile is stretched between loom end sticks (part a). The weaving has been started at the top of the loom. Loom is warped with multi-coloured stripes of solid and resist-dyed cotton ikat (jaspe). Detailed are black, yellow, green, blue, purple and white stripes on a red ground. Intertwined in the warp is a flat, rectangular batten with triangular, pointed ends (part b); a cylindrical shaped heddle covered in white twine (part c); two rectangular sticks of wood with semi-circular indentations (parts e and f); a shed role (part g) and two thin wooden sticks (parts d and h).

Wooden box with painted paper glued to exterior then covered with varnish. Bottom has green paper. Around the edges is a gold, black and red floral design band. Top has battle scene of men on horseback. The front and back sides have an image of a procession of men in the desert with hills, grass and background of houses and trees. The ends show a ruler sitting in a temple accompanied by ten attendants in tall black hats. All images are drawn flat. The men’s dress is simple, varying from long robes to short tunics and long boots. The men are shaved, bearded or mustached. Inside the box is lined with paper consisting of blue, silver and white floral print. Two black cloth straps hold the lid and are attached in place by thumb tacks. Adhered with tape are two handwritten notes on Darius and Horus.

The handle is painted (?) with a mottled brown pattern, perforated near the butt end and held in place with a nail. The straw is purple, blue-green, and natural colours, woven in geometric design, finished with a band of braided straw sewn with unspun linen (?) thread around each side.

Wooden, rectangular cabinet shrine (a); open side has inner and outer set of doors, hinged at the sides, each door also hinged in the middle. Painted and lacquered black and gold, with brass trim; outer doors have gold-painted panels; inner doors have slats covered with fine cloth net. Carved panel with phoenix painted gold over inner doors. Inside is shelf with four pillars, under which are three panels with scenes. Drawers (b-c) in lower part of shrine; b has lacquered panel with scene; c is black with brass knob. Lacquered wooden tablet (d) is resting on a carved golden lotus, on two legs with eight Chinese characters.
