Bentwood ChestA8211 a-b

Rectangular bentwood box (part a) with lid (part b). The front and back are painted red and black in different designs. The front and back have complex designs. The sides have the same motif of vertical sets of ovoids and u-forms. Designs painted in black and red with stylized forms. The lid has decorative brass studs on three edges; the studs on the front are all gone, except one.

Bear Claw GloveA8371

Part of a dance costume, carved in the shape of a bear's claw. Hide is nailed around at the wrist,and a piece of blue patterned fabric is nailed on one side to cover the hand. Opposite side has been painted blue. Has five digits.

Headdress of a raven with mirrored glass eyes. Painted black, blue, and red. Head attached to wooden head ring covered with shredded red cedar bark and repurposed blue with white stripes cotton cloth. Moveable lower jaw held together by metal pegs.

Canoe PaddleA8170

Carved wood paddle with a diamond-shaped blade. The blade and the lower shaft are painted red while the upper shaft is painted black. Handle grip mortised and nailed onto the shaft and painted red. Black painted panel on the blade contains designs of a raccoon in grey and a curved shape in orange. These designs appear on both sides of the blade.

Horn sealed at the widest end by a nailed piece of wood and plugged with a slightly pointed wooden stopper at the other end. A short red and dark grey strap connects both ends. Does not contain any gunpowder.

Rattle, the body oval in cross-section, composed of two symmetrical halves secured on the sides with leather. The handle is cylindrical, is slightly flared at the butt end, and is secured with fibre as well as nails. The base of the handle is coated in a resin-like substance with a brown colour.

Blanket loom. The two upright side pieces (parts a-b) are relatively flat in profile, with three rectangular matching cutouts for the rollers. Small rectangular pieces are nailed beneath the lower two cutouts. The two rollers (parts c-d) are tubular and thickest in the centre. The rollers have sprockets on each end that fit into the upright cutouts.
