Transformation MaskA7968

Transformation mask or headdress made from cut out planks of wood formed in a triangular-like shape with flat sides, a thin adjoining nose piece and two rectangular shaped pieces of wood at the back. Detailed in blue, black, yellow, white, green and red stylized forms. The creature on the outside (lightning serpent?) has large black eyes outlined in yellow, rectangular shaped ears and white bared teeth. The mask opens to reveal a bird (thunderbird?) with a large white articulated beak, black eyes and a red and black head. There are numerous feathers attached to a thin metal strip; three strips line the top and back of the mask. Inside has a curved flat metal piece used to hold the mask onto a head.

Small wood carving of the torso and head of a man. Finely modelled face that has rounded, circular eyes surrounded by a carved tapering oval, a wide, triangular nose, bulbous cheeks, and a slightly parted mouth. Wearing a sectioned, rounded, peaked cap. Out stretched arms are nailed and glued to the body and appear to have been holding something (perhaps a paddle). Lower body cut off in a wedge shape. Two grooves in the side of the body (perhaps to secure figure in a model canoe).

Wood carved headdress in form of an eagle's head with the tip of the beak carved out. Painted are a yellow beak with a red mouth and nostril. The eyes are inlaid with circular mirrors and surrounded by a piece of circular, scalloped edged metal. Around the eyes is red, the face is green with red and yellow feather detailing. Nailed to the black brow is a finely beaded cloth. The inside has a piece of wood for support; nailed to the wood is a piece of leather. The right outside edge has remnants of a cotton cloth.

Double towered church facade (part a) painted bright polychrome on both sides. Central glass mirror behind the arch doorway outlined with orange. Main colour is yellow with a central design above the arch doorway consisting of flowers, and geometric patterns. Two yellow bell towers, one on each side, each having two sets of black triangular windows, with a wood bell painted black enclosed within four red pillars, and an orange dome with an orange cross (parts c and d) on top.
