Large birch bark basket. Birch bark bent and laced together with birch root. Birch twig around rim is overcast with dyed root. Design is scratched on. Design on side one: vertical stripes of triangles on lines. Side two: vertical strips filled with oblique strokes bordered by triangles. Rim is overcast with dyed root (?). Dark part of bark is to the outside.

Bark is bent and laced into place with birch twine around the rim overcast with birch root and partially beaded with crabapple(?) bark. Geometric patterns are scratched onto the exterior sides, revealing a lighter shade of bark.

Birch bark basket bent and laced into place. A twig splint ringing the rim is overcast, with wide stitches for reinforcement--seven blue opaque glass beads are laced onto the rim. The white side of the bark faces outwards, with a strip of brown bark running underneath the rim as reinforcement.

A split twig rim covers the top edge of the basket and is overcast with thin strips of root; a strip of bark is laced underneath the rim as reinforcement. Red and green beads are featured around the top of the rim. A strip of rawhide is strung from one side of the rim to the other as a handle.

Trinket BasketA1856

Basket with simple interlocking coiled work, bifurcated stitches, and watch-spring base construction with a foot one slat high. Overcast rim separates to form two small handles. Decorated with imbricated designs. The rim is beaded in red cherry bark. The body has partial imbrication of four vertical continuous panels, three stitches wide, in red cherry bark, bullrush, and red cherry bark. The foot also has some beading in red cherry bark.
