This mask was made by Joe Seaweed, son of artist Willie Seaweed. The character expressed by the little smile and drooping brows suggests innocent, perhaps even gullible wonder. (Holm, Crooked Beak of Heaven, 1972)

Red clay bowl (part a) with lid (part b); bowl has one handle, second missing. Side with handle has darker slip than the other side; painted inside and out. Lid has large circular knob on top; rings in pattern around knob; neck is slender and short; small depression on top of lid; not painted inside.
Wooden model canoe (parts a-c) with one outrigger. The canoe has an oval-like shape with pointed ends, a rounded bottom and interior. The surface is painted red and black with white on the bow and stern which have small sections of shallow engraving. Across the top of the canoe are six pieces of bamboo that extend out to the pontoon and also support twelve thinner stripes of bamboo that run in opposite direction. The pontoon or float (part b) is cylindrical in shape is black with pointed, tapered ends. Inside of the canoe is a small, carved wooden paddle (part c).
