The folded hat is black and rectangular, decorated with appliqué. The hat flares out at the top, narrows at the base and folds inwards on both sides. On the top of the hat are two step pyramids. On the front are two large pink peonies with four green leaves. Around the peonies are stylized lotus designs in gold thread. These motifs continue on the back and side panels. On the inside of the hat is ecru lining, stiffened with cardboard. Two ecru ties are attached.

Embroidered on the centre panel are red and pink peonies with green leaves and yellow swirls. These designs are repeated on the inside of both side folds. The rounded top piece has pink and orange peonies. Hanging down from the top piece on either side of the centre panel is a red streamer. On the back, the flap mimics the rounded top piece and extends down past the bottom of the folded centre panel, flaring out at the bottom. In the centre of the flap is a large pink, green, orange and red peony. Surrounding the flower is a circle of gold scroll designs, orange and pink peonies with green leaves. On the inside of the hat is ecru lining, stiffened with cardboard. Two ecru ties are attached.

The folded hat is dark purple and rectangular with a rounded top piece, a back flap and embroidered motifs. The hat has a dark purple centre panel which folds inwards on both sides. Embroidered on the centre panel is a red and orange lotus and a multicoloured butterfly. Inside of both side folds are orange, green and red peonies surrounded by gold swirls. The rounded top piece has a large purple, green and yellow bat. Hanging down from the top piece on either side of the centre panel is a red streamer. On the back, the flap mimics the rounded top piece and extends down past the bottom of the folded centre panel, flaring out at the bottom. The large bat motif is repeated on the top piece of the back flap. In the centre of the flap is a large red flower. A tall rounded royal blue cotton hat that has vertical folds all around with black edging at the base, and a red ball on top. Off-white ties, and lining.

The folded opera hat is light brown and rectangular with a rounded top piece curling down on either side. The hat has a light brown centre panel which folds inwards on both sides. Embroidered on the centre panel are pink and orange peonies with green leaves and gold swirls and a pink and orange bat. On the inside of both side folds is a red peony with green leaves and gold swirls. The rounded top piece has pink and orange peonies with green leaves and gold swirls. One curled end has a small orange flower and an attached green tassel. The other curled end has a small red flower and an attached pink tassel. The designs on the back of the hat mimic those on the front. There are pink orange and red peonies, green leaves, gold swirls. However, the small flowers on the curled ends are blue. On the inside of the hat is ecru lining, stiffened with cardboard. Two ecru ties are attached.

The folded hat is black and square with a triangular top piece. The hat folds inwards on both sides. On the front is a large orange, blue, red and purple peony with green leaves and brown curved lines. The same design is duplicated on the triangular piece with the addition of two red peonies and a yellow border. These upper and lower designs are repeated in the folded side panels. On the back there is only the upper design. On the inside of the hat is ecru lining, stiffened with cardboard. Two ecru ties are attached.
