Groundstone tool; girdled, beginning approximately 3 cm from one end, and forming a girdled band approximately 4 cm wide. Note found with artifact: "Girdled stone. Found Jl. 3, 1965 by Dr. Raymond C.Scheider [UW Sch of Arch - added later]. 19811Greenwood Place N.* in what is probably fill at that address. Donated 7-7-65. D Adze. Found at Alki Point, King County, Washington State. Green coloration.
grey maul, battered and pecked, slight factures, round on top, flat on bottom.
Central portion of maul is narrower than both base and top. Small concavity on top due to battering.
Nealrly cylindrical brown pebble, both ends are slightly rounded and lightly battered.
Fractured on both ends. Heavily pecked; could be a pestle/maul blank.
Pronounced top with incisions running down it. The top also exhibits battering.
Small stone pestle.* One pestle returned from Grant County Public Utility District, Wanapum Dam Heritage Center on January 25, 1995. These materials were originally sent to Grant County PUD for future exchange (see Borrower's Agreement - 1966), but the exchange papers were never drawn up. Since this material was only loaned, not deaccessioned, the Grant County PUD returned it to the Burke. (L. Phillips, 1/26/95). Miniature pestle.
