Semi-spherical hat with a small turned-up stiffened brim made of palm, topped with a tapering, cylindrical knob of wood. The exterior has a geometric plaited design that consists of four panels that each have a large, dark brown diamond shape that has five smaller, light brown diamond shapes within, one at each corner and one at the centre. The interior has a separate woven lining of palm in a knot stitch. Braided palm link chain attached to one side of the brim.

Cylindrical basket with a square base. Plaited geometric design on the exterior. The bands are of a natural colour with designs in dark brown that include the following from top to bottom: fragmented tilted squares, solid tilted squares, fragmented tilted squares, fragmented tilted squares, solid tilted squares, and fragmented tilted squares. Rim sewn with bamboo or palm fibres.

Cylindrical bamboo tube in two parts: top (part b) slides into the bottom (part a). The cylinder tapers towards both ends, each of which has a concave depression. A plaited loop is inserted in the centre of the top (part b) and is knotted on the interior. The design and the foot and the rim have been painted black. Geometric designs and scenes are incised on the sides. The bottom (part a) is bordered by a horizontal band at either end which each has a different geometric design with triangular variations. In between these bands, the main scene consists of one human on a horse, two humans on a horse, and other animals around them including horses, fish, and a pig-like creature. The top (part b) has two horizontal bands, the top band of which has semi-circles and the bottom one of which has triangles.

A rectangular-shaped basket with a square base and a round mouth. Mouth is finished with a herring bone stitch called 'iyugu'. Thin parallel strips of natural coloured fibre are loosely woven and run vertically up to the shoulders then taper inward towards the mouth. A sturdy strip of fibre encircles the square base. Several rows of weaving encircle the neck and five separate rows of twining encircle the trunk of the basket.

Basketry HatA4255

Dome-shaped, double-woven, cedar basketry hat with plaited square at the top. The square is outlined with double strand twining in a yellow grass. The cedar bark is then divided and finer twining continues in cedar bark. One row of triple strand twining is used to add a decorative feature near the top, while there are two more rows used to finish of the bottom. These latter rows are separated from each other by three rows of double strand twining. The inner hat is not as finely woven as the outer hat. It has a hat band attached inside.

Basketry hat with painted designs and a flared brim. The warps are made of red cedar bark and a small square of checkerboard plaiting is present at the top. The hat is woven of triangle sedge grass, using double strand twining. The warps are divided after several rows and the weaving becomes finer. Green-dyed grass has been used in several areas as an accent combined with the use of three strand twining. The painted design is of a male figure with hands upraised, flanked on either side by fish or whale figures. The paint is a dark green colour and badly faded. The rim of the hat is finished with dyed grass and a black yarn-like material. The hat has a cap-shaped liner woven into its interior. The liner is diagonally twined.

Dome shaped, double-woven, cedar bark hat with a design that is painted on. The hat has plaiting at the top which is outlined with double strand twining. The warps are then split and the twining becomes finer. A row of triple strand twining separates the top from the sides of the hat. The body of the hat is woven with double strand twining and features a painted design. The design is expansive; the main elements are two large eyes in black outlined in green with grey-blue under brow. The bottom rim of the hat has a row of triple strand twining. The hat liner is woven in a similar manner to the exterior hat, but not as finely. The liner does not extend to the full height of the hat, but stops just below the hat band which is twill woven (over two, under one).

Dome-shaped, double-woven, cedar bark basketry hat. The top is slightly indented with plaiting in the centre. The plaiting is outlined with double strand twining, after which the warps are split and the twining becomes much finer. The rim, at the top, is outlined with one row of triple strand twining. Triple strand twining is also used along the bottom rim, above which is two rows of double strand twining and then another of triple strand. The rest of the hat is double strand twining. The hat is decorated with three rings of grass wefts, each ring being three rows wide, and alternating purple and the natural yellow colour. The hat is lined with cedar bark that is plaited at the top, and then twined using two strands. The hat band is both twined and plaited.

Dome shaped, double-woven, basketry hat with spruce root exterior and red cedar bark warps and liner. The top of the hat is indented with a plaited square of cedar bark, which is outlined with double strand twining in spruce root. The warps are then split and the twining continues, but is much finer. The top rim is outlined with one row of triple strand twining, as is the rim at the bottom of the hat. The hat is decorated with a green dyed rings near the top and bottom of the hat, and a purple dyed ring around the centre. The liner is woven with red cedar bark, except for two decorative rings in spruce root that have been dyed purple--one is near the top and the other the bottom. There are also two rings which flank the hat band that alternate green and the natural light yellow coloured spruce root. The hat band is diagonally plaited.
