There is a black geometric border that runs along the top and bottom with two stripes on either side. There are two differing, floral patterns in between each line of border. The centre has a black lozenge pattern. The ends are raw.

The sleeves are short with hanging panels and an opening under the arms. There are white crests on the upper front, back and back of both sleeves. The designs on the lower front have pine tree, floral and screen motifs in green, blue, cream, white and orange. It has five family crests or kamon (家紋) in the shape of ivy leaf known as tsuta (蔦). The bottom hem is padded with cotton. The upper lining is cream silk.

Shirushi banten (印半纏), a type of hanten, also known as happi (法被, 半被) with black designs on white background. Around the neck and part way down the centre opening is a wide black band. The sleeves are short and the ends are edged with a thick black band. The front, back and sleeves have a diamond and stripe pattern. There is a pocket in each side seam. There is a folded black ribbon sewn inside the left sleeve. The inside is unlined.
