Utility bag of printed mill cotton with self-covered hand straps. Made of sturdy undyed mill cloth, design printed in red. One side has a seated anthro-zoomorphic figure with head of elephant and body of man with four arms, each holding distinctive object. Mouse in front of figure. Lettering in an Indian script. On the reverse side is a seated human figure in ceremonial dress with four arms, one of which holds a spear. Peacock at the figure's left side. English inscription: 'Chithra Bag Works Madras-7.'

One piece, cotton fabric skirt with folded and stitched seams. There are small folds at the attached waistband; the ends are tied. At the base is a cross-stitch design of eight petal pink flowers in green octagons with orange borders. Above the band are seven frontal eagles with their heads in profile, there are two pointed extensions above heads with a long curl at the back of neck. Their octagonal bodies each have a central flower; fan-like wings extended to sides, triangular tail between legs, claws on legs.

Skin covered kayak with a single angled cockpit; relatively flat on top and keel; rounded bow tapers to a point and raises slightly from bottom; stern also tapers to a point and is raised from bottom. Series of evenly spaced (where visible) ribs attach to gunwales; ribs are flat on bottom and curve sharply at sides. Three longitudinal keel supports and additional supports around and extending from cockpit. Numerous skins are sewn together, covering kayak; the skin is sewn to a bent wood rim at cockpit. In front of cockpit is a bone support attached to top, side of kayak by a leather thong which passes through two holes on base of the support and through two holes on either side of kayak. There is a rope attached to the back of the cockpit on both sides. The skin covering is pieced by stitching in numerous places.

Fine hand-woven cotton bag with hand straps. White with wide bands of red woven in and a small chain-like embroidered stitch in blue on each side of red band. Bands alternate with three embroidered motifs, in green, blue, and red. Similar design in green and black on handles. Lined with mill cloth; machine sewn on the two sides. Opening bound with black weave.

One rectangular piece of cream cotton fabric folded over to form a square sewn at side adjacent to fold, there is a v shaped neck opening at corner. Two sides are open. There is a cross-stitched band, wider at one end with pink eight petal flowers in green octagons. Pink triangles separate octagons at top and base all on an orange ground. Above the band are pink and green birds with flower-like extension at front of beak, diagonal ears, wings and tail feathers.

Short blouse with long set in sleeves with folds at cuffs; folded and stitched circular neck opening with front slit; cross-stitch designs at cuffs, shoulders and hem. Cuffs have undulating pink edging with squares on green ground. Shoulder seams and the bottom edge are detailed with a band of eight petal pink flowers in green octagons on an orange ground. Next to the bands are birds in profile with their heads turned backwards over bodies, there are two v-like extensions above each head, octagonal body with central flower, wings extended to sides, fan-like tail between legs.

Brown bentwood oval box with lid (part b). Box is one piece, with bent sides with bevelled edges forming a flush side, sewn together with two parallel rows of baleen(?) and leather. Rectangular walrus tusk clasp between sewn rows with hooked appendage and six holes (or sets of holes), two form 'eyes' with hook as 'nose', attached through holes with leather strips. Two parallel grooves at top and bottom of sides. On opposite side is second walrus tusk rectangle with five sets of holes with leather strips attaching it to box. One top corner has wooden pegged (three) strip of wood; a longer damaged pegged (six) strip on end. Two holes on non-clasp side for attaching lid to box. Both are broken, remnants of one are on box, the other. Lid has a horizontal row on top of 7 beads with the central bead being light blue and the others being dark blue.

Cotton pants formed by two panels with crotch inset and a drawstring waist. The bottom of the pants have a cross-stitch decoration of three different horizontal bands alternating with a row of birds. First band has red, blue and yellow geometric design of triangles and diamonds separated by a zigzag line. On top are nine pink frontal birds with profile heads facing left, each bird has floral crown, an octagonal body and a triangular tail. Second band has stylized orange flowers, alternating directions, joined by an angular green line, dark blue line border at top and bottom; yellow profile birds above band has purple outline. Third band has a double row of blue flowers attached by blue stems to a yellow and red ribbon, flowers alternate with red double scrolls, green line border at top and base; purple frontal birds with heads facing to side on right are above band. Red cloth band at hem of each leg.

White shirt with embroidery. The shirt has a v-neck, long cuffed sleeves and open sides. On the upper front and back are feline motifs surrounded by a square geometric border in red, orange, yellow and blue on white ground. On the lower front and back are rooster motifs above a geometric border. The hem is edged with orange trim. On the sleeves are bird motifs and geometric borders. The cuffs are edged with blue and orange trim. The inside is unlined.
