Red gathered skirt with a colourful striped waistband and lime green cording on the lower edge. Placket opening at the waist with extensions of waistband as tie closures. One pleat, parallel to hem extends around the skirt. Inside of lower edge is faced with off-white fabric.

Shirt of natural white wool with slash neck, stand-up collar and long, straight sleeves. The collar is embroidered at the front outside with slashes of bright coloured yarn and outlined with a red band. The front bottom of the shirt is shorter than the back. The fabric is thick and somewhat felted with some black wool woven in along the back bottom edge.

Wool sling consisting of an orange, purple, green, yellow and red braid with five tassels spaced along the length and a centrally positioned pouch. The pouch is composed of four woven strips which have a stitched netting between them. One end has a braided finger loop.

Bag made of red vertically striped fabric with a slender strap and thick colourful tassels along the bottom. White figurative and geometric motifs are placed in a wider central stripe, in two narrow side stripes and along the strap. Green and yellow solid stripes edge the design bands. The bag mouth and side seams have a tubular woven edging with a zigzagging diamond motif.

Summer KimonoEd5.2933 a

Orange girl’s yukata (浴衣), a casual summer kimono with printed pattern goes with sash (Ed5.2933 b). The neck and centre opening are edged with a patterned band. The sleeves are short with a rounded outside corner and an opening under the arms. The yukata is constructed of nine rectangular panels. The front panels are tucked from shoulder to hem. The pattern has morning glory, peony, chrysanthemum, water, bird and scroll motifs in orange, red, white, purple and green. The inside is unlined.

Pink damask Furisode (振袖) with printed pattern. The neck and centre opening are edged with a wide patterned band. The sleeves are short with long hanging panels and an opening under the arms. The pattern has sprays of morning glories, branches of white and pink cherry blossoms in white, red, pink and blue-gray. The damask is woven containing flying crane and checkered fan motifs. The kimono is constructed of nine rectangular panels; front panels tucked from neck to hem. The inside is unlined.

Wide end of long narrow rectangular sash is a plain weave of yellow silk on one side with two narrow silver stripes near end, and the other side has a supplementary weft of a background of silver squares; chrysanthemums with black and silver centres; and peonies with silver centres and veined green leaves. The wide end is sewn in half at 112 cm, and the pattern continues for 94 cm, then plain yellow weave for 126.3, then pattern on narrow end for 11 cm. White cotton interlining.

Rectangular knitted bag with a corded strap and three red tassels on the bottom. The bag faces are similar, each consisting of four bands with repeating patterns worked in white or coloured yarn against a dark red or a dark blue background. A border of dark blue and white squares surrounds the bag mouth. Next is a row of figures, alternately male and female, holding hands and wearing hats. Below this is a row of white oval shapes oriented on the diagonal. They repeat in reflective symmetry. Below this is a wider blue band with individual motifs of profile birds, segmented circles and crosses. The final band is like the second band. The bottom edge is sewn together and tassels are attached through the two larger ones. The handle is four strands of red, green and white twisted together then doubled.

A pointed knitted cap with ear flaps, pom-poms on chin ties and a tassel at the point. The cap is banded with rainbow stripes of graduated colours. One wide red band near the lower edge has figures of birds and a butterfly and geometric figures. Three other bands have interlocking hooks repeating around the hat. In between, are many different colours arranged to give a glowing optical effect. The earflaps are triangular and the colour changes in this area follow the triangular shape.
