Water JarD4.34

Polychrome jar, brown-black design with red-brown detail on white (now smudged). Rim band extends 2.5 cm inside jar, 3 mm to the outside. Second thin line just below the first, with a 5 mm break at one point. Neck decoration is abstract curvilinear and geometric (repeated once). Details include brown-black crosshatching and red-brown horizontal stripes. Body and neck are separated by 2 bands with a 4 mm break. Body design includes deer in domed, decorated sections. Floral designs separate the 2 sets of 2 deer. Deer are brown-black with white flanks, around eyes and a red-brown line extending from the muscle to the interior, ending in a knob or triangle. Floral design; scalloped circle enclosing a 4 petalled flower. Base is solid brown-black. There is a scrape on one floral rosette, upper left.

Lamp with a circular body as viewed from the top that is concave with concentric rings, a bas-relief design representing 10 gladiatorial arms, and a small filling hole at the centre. The nozzle flares outwards to a point on each side.

Owl Figure3642/2

Large pear-shaped polychrome pottery owl. Wide-eyed upright bird with matte white slip and painted feathers. There are protruding vertical wings with painted feathers on each front, and an arch of tail feathers at the back. There is a small 1 cm hole at the back. The owl has large raised circular orange eyes with large black pupils encircled by small black dots. The owl has two pointed orange ears on top of the head that extend down into a small hooked beak with two small painted nostrils. 'ACOMA, N.M.' and 'P1581' on base. Unsigned.

Large pear-shaped polychrome pottery owl. Wide-eyed upright bird with glossy off-white slip and painted feathers. The owl has large inset circular orange eyes encircled with lash-like lines. There are two small painted nostrils instead of a beak. Two small, rounded ears on top of the head that are orange on the front, and black on the back. There is a small 1 cm hole in the base. 'ACOMA, N.M.' and '4' on base. Unsigned.
