Rain Shoes984/10 a-b

Pair of shoes each carved from a single piece of grey-brown wood with pronounced grain. Each is raised on two heels with a v-shaped space between them positioned at the arch and the heel with iron nails in the front heel. The shoes have low, rounded sides. Heels are concave (from the inside) and extend upwards at the back. The toes curve upwards and end in a point.

Child's Flat FanN3.43

Flat fan made of finely-split bamboo flaring out from its attachment point to a long wooden handle painted black. Perimeter of fan is circular except for the lower edge where the handle is attached, which is straight and at right angles to handle. Fan is covered with lacquered paper with a design of three swirls converging at the centre, coloured red, green, and yellow. It has a narrow edging of black paper around the outside edge. The fan is inserted into a split in the handle, which is flat and shaped like a pointed oval where it covers the fan, which is attached with two rivets. The shape of the handle is repeated with an outline of orange paint on the fan.

Flat fan made of finely-split bamboo flaring out from its attachment point to a long wooden handle painted black. Perimeter of fan is shaped like a double inverted U. The lower edge where the handle is attached is straight and at right angles to handle. Fan is covered with yellow lacquered paper on both sides. The area surrounding the handle on one side is covered with a black paper cut in a floral pattern, and the area immediately surrounding the handle is painted orange. The fan has a narrow edging of black paper. It is inserted into a split in the handle, which is flat and shaped like a pointed oval where it covers the fan, which is attached with a rivet.

The fan is inserted into a split in the handle, which is flat and shaped like a pointed oval where it covers the fan, which is attached with two rivets. The area surrounding the handle is covered on each side with a black paper cut in a floral pattern. The area immediately surrounding the handle is painted orange.

Folding FanN3.55

A closing fan made of twenty-six flat bamboo ribs lacquered dark brown with tapering end pieces of natural colour bamboo. Edges of the ribs curve inwards just below the point where they reach the paper cover of the fan, which is white. Fan is held together with a brass rivet that has a small ring on one side. Rivet is set into wooden ends of a slightly darker colour, which flare outward at the base.
