Polychrome effigy jar with flared lip, bulbous at top of neck, the rest of the neck slopes slightly, then sharply flares to shoulder and constricts sharply to flat 18 cm. base. Modelled face on neck with protruding ears, nose and chin. Slits at eyes and mouth. Rectilinear dark brown and orange on light yellow/brown design from neck to shoulder. Thick dark brown lines mark off areas in straight and stepped lines and zigzag connections. Some orange lines and fine dark brown lines infill spaces. Occasional x's on these lines. Orange diamond below face, brown zigzag at forehead. Orange for bottom half and at inside rim. Black and light brown patches around bottom. Plain inside. Resin coated inside and out. Scrapes and chips at shoulder. Dirt accretions and checked patches. Paint chipped on face.

Polychrome effigy jar with flared lip, slightly sloping neck, then sharp slope to shoulder, constricting sharply from shoulder to 18 cm. flat base. Two modelled faces oppose on neck, ears, nose and chin which jut out. Slit for eyes and mouth. Dark brown and orange/brown rectilinear motif on light yellow/brown, on faces and to shoulder between. Main design feature is thick outlined (dark brown) cross shaped boxes with crosses and other lines inside and out. Below faces are light yellow/brown painted torsos with 4 fingered hands, outlined in dark brown on dark orange ground. Zig-zag edge between arms and torso with triangles on line outside arms. Below shoulders is solid rubbed dark orange with black, carbonized areas. Outside rim is dark brown, inside jar is dark orange for half neck, unpainted for remainder. Resin coating outside and partially inside. Scrape across one hand. Some chips at rim, checking at shoulder.

One elbow-shaped dark brown wood piece cut from trunk and branch of tree. Smooth, long handle increases in outside diameter to pointed top from which thicker haft extends downwards at approximately forty-five degree angle. Haft's top surface cut away for blade to be lashed and nailed, both blade and lashing now missing. Two nails still present. Underside of haft's base end has large lashing projection.

Spindle consisting of a wooden shaft that tapers to a point with a spherical whorl positioned near one end of stick. Both pieces are covered in dark brown deposit. Spun and unspun white cotton fibre is wrapped around the centre of the stick.

A flat inverted u-shaped paper fan on a frame of very fine bamboo strips, which radiate from the centre of the flat edge around the handle. Top half of fan is red while lower half is light brown with a round medallion enclosing a red, green, and light brown swirl motif at the centre. Painted orange in half of a marquise shape around the handle. Orange area is surrounded with black paper. Straight handle of wood is split at one end for insertion of the fan and is painted black.

One piece wand with pointed end of shaft that swells then flares abruptly to blunt end. From here, shaft continues to large paddle-shape whose squared tip has single flange around circumference and perforated hole through thickness. Museum label on end surface. Dark brown patina. Chipped on edges and at flare of shaft.

A small flat, rectangular fan with two lobes at the top. On a frame of very fine bamboo strips radiating out from the centre of the lower edge where the handle is mounted. Both sides are covered with paper and are lacquered green with a painted black design like a paper cut around near the handle are mounting, enclosing an orange painted design shaped like a half-marquise. Straight wood handle is painted red and split to allow insertion of fan.

Cotton GinEe1 a-g

Ginning machine, made of several types of hardwood; light to dark brown; frame (part a) with two interlocking, carved worm gears (parts c and d) turned by crank handle, secured in place with a peg to the gear, all held in place by two (parts e and f) blocks and one wedge (part g). The base is held upright by a hardwood support bar (part b), which is inserted in a hole in the base of the frame.
