A hand woven off-white rectangular table runner. Main design is consisting of horizontal red, blue and yellow decorative stripes (three on each end), and plain red, and blue horizontal stripes at 3 cm. intervals throughout the centre. Short twisted fringe at each end.

Table Runner456/10

A small hand woven rectangular table runner, predominantly pink, with wide and narrow multi-coloured horizontal woven bands. The main design is consisting of a pattern with three narrow bands interspersed between two wide bands. The narrow bands have a main design consisting of central white and black line outlined by red, orange, yellow, green, and red and bordered by black squares. The wide bands have a main design consisting of a central stripe of green, orange-red, and deep red geometric shapes on a yellow-orange background. Directly at either side of this central stripe of these wide bands, there are the following other stripes: a white and black line; black geometric shapes on a bright yellow background outlined by green and red; and bordered by black geometric shapes. There is a white fringe at either end.

A long rectangular hand-woven twill weave olive green textile. Perhaps a table runner? Has narrow horizontal bands of woven geometric designs and plain wider bands at each end. The main design is consisting of seven bands in an alternating pattern of a slim band with a cream-coloured dotted band that has squares within and a wider band that has alternating cream-coloured x-like and star-like shapes surrounded by a striped band outlined by a cream-coloured dotted line that has squares at either side. The central band has cream-coloured x-shapes and diamond shapes. The centre has seven more slim bands with a cream-coloured dotted band that has squares within. Selvages on each side. Ends are finished with a knotted fringe. Course and stiff linen or hemp with a weft design, worked in cotton? Reversible.

Cap of black silk damask with widely spaced roundels and floral motifs. The cap is made of two halves joined at a centre seam from front to back, except for the opening at the top, round when worn. This opening and the forehead area are edged with narrow piping. The edge of the cap is straight across the forehead, but then is cut at a right angle so that it covers the ears. The lower edge forms a circle from the right angle to the top opening. The outer fabric is folded under at the ears and threaded on a cord. The cap is lined with blue-green rayon damask with geometric stepped designs and roundels. A pink silk cord extends loosely across the top opening, attached at the centre front and back. At the back are suspended three pink tassels wrapped in silver thread. At the centre front is a complex knot design in pink cord, and five pink tassels.

Cap of black silk damask with a flower and vines at the centre on each side, surrounded with a circle of five-petalled flowers, and with a smaller flower and vine motif on each side of the forehead. A purple silk cord extends loosely across the top opening, attached at the centre front and back. At the back are suspended three purple tassels wrapped in silver thread. At the centre front is a complex knot design in purple cord, and five purple tassels. At each side above the right angle is attached a silver-coloured metal ornament in the shape of a basket of flowers. At the end of the back seam is attached an ornament of the same metal in the shape of a bat or cicada. Pieces of white paper are pasted to the inside at both sides, and inside the forehead area.

A long narrow rectangular hand woven wool sash that has multi-coloured geometric designs with red predominating. Main design is consisting of an alternating deep red, deep purple, and deep green, hexagon and six-appendaged shape pattern on a bright red background. Bordered by a black lines in between a wide white chain that has red links and a thin red chain link at either side. Fringe at each end is tied into small bundles.

Cantonese Opera HatN1.775

The folded opera hat or lotus seed servant's hat is blue and narrow with a red fabric ball on top. The base is rectangular and edged in black. The sides slope inwards to a point with the red ball on top. The sides of the hat each fold inward twice. The inside of the hat is white and stiffened with cardboard. Two wide, white ties are attached.
