Triangular flag of turquoise damask with borders of metallic braid and jagged, flame-shaped orange damask. Double, curved bamboo staffs for each flag rise from a golden handle with a pink fringe. Flags sit just above the handle. Pink casing for staff.

A folded diamond-shaped opera hat for a guard character that has peony, and longevity motifs. The peony motifs are blue, and white around the lower portion. The upper portion is black. The entire hat has an overall yellow background. There is a beige pom-pom at the top. There are ties. Has a cotton lining.

Cantonese Opera HatN1.780

An off-white square hat with the front, and the back angled to meet each other like a roof, and having the top edge curved. The front has bat, and peacock motifs with a white tile, 4.8 x 3.6 cm. The back has a longevity design with dragon, and butterfly motifs. Colours include yellow, blue, gold, and green. Decorated with circular mirror inserts edged with brass-coloured metal. There are two very long green fabris streamers at the back with an arrow-shaped-like pattern at the bottom consisting of a green print on a white background edged with pink, circular mirror inserts edged with brass-coloured metal, a pink floral print on a white background edged with a blue geometric pattern, and semi-rounded brass-coloured pieces. There are two off-white ties at the back.

Cantonese Opera HatN1.779

The folded hat is black and rectangular with a rounded top piece, a back flap and embroidered motifs. The hat has a black centre panel which folds inwards on both sides. Embroidered on the centre panel are pink and orange peonies with green leaves. These designs are repeated on the inside of both side folds. Hanging down from the top piece on either side of the centre panel is a red streamer. The rounded top piece has pink and white peonies with green leaves and yellow swirls. On the back, the flap mimics the rounded top piece and extends down past the bottom of the folded centre panel, flaring out at the bottom. In the centre of the flap is a large red and white peony. Surrounding the flower is a circle of gold scroll designs and pink peonies with green leaves and yellow swirls. On the inside of the hat is ecru lining, stiffened with cardboard. Two thick ecru ties are attached.

Pair of tiny shoe forms with blocks of wood inside, carved to simulate very small shoes, and extended in "shoe-horn" shape to provide actual foot support. All concealed under embroidered cover for false shoe with tall cotton cuff attached. False shoe: leather and brass sole, wedge heel; floral motifs, pink, brown, mauve, on turquoise ground; upper: floral motifs, pink and turquoise on ecru ground; edging: brass and mirrors, with twisted copper wire, on dark blue ground. Cuff: floral ribbon appliqued at junction with uppers. Black cotton rectangle appliqued above at front with attached ecru loops (4) - balance of ecru cotton. Loops hold cord to keep cuff in place.

Block of wood carved to simulate very small shoe, and extended in "shoe-horn" shape to provide actual foot support. All concealed under embroidered silk cover for false shoe, with tall cotton cuff attached. Fake shoe: leather sole, wedge heel; floral motifs, yellow, orange, pink, on turquoise ground; upper: floral motifs - gold, turquoise on red ground, red and gold braid edging. Cuff: at front, one blue, one black cotton rectangle, with ecru loop attached, balance ecru cotton. Loops may have served to hold cord to keep cuff in place around foot. Pair.

The folded hat is tan and rectangular with a rounded top piece, a back flap and embroidered motifs. The hat has a tan centre panel which folds inwards on both sides. Embroidered on the centre panel is a red and orange lotus and a multicoloured butterfly. Inside of both side folds are purple, green and red peonies surrounded by gold swirls. The rounded top piece has a large blue, red, green and yellow bat. Hanging down from the top piece on either side of the centre panel is a red streamer. On the back, the flap mimics the rounded top piece and extends down past the bottom of the folded centre panel, flaring out at the bottom. The large bat motif is repeated on the top piece of the back flap. In the centre of the flap is a large red flower. Surrounding the flower is a circle of gold scroll designs, orange peonies with green leaves and blue and red flowers with green leaves. On the inside of the hat is ecru lining, stiffened with cardboard. Two ecru ties are attached.
