A dark black wood mask with two stylized faces forehead to forehead and having forked ends. The foreheads are in the middle and are upraised. One face is upright with the other face inverted in a mirror image. The eyes are horizontally slit with rounded oval eyelids. There is a nose and slightly open pursed lips. One face has a horizontal indent under each cheek while the other face has slightly fuller cheeks.

Sake ContainerN2.1329 a-b

Sake container (a) in the shape of a cylinder that tapers towards the bottom with two flaring arms at the top that are joined with a crossbar for a handle. A tapered stopper (b), fits into a hole near the edge of the top. Bands of twisted bamboo, two near the top, and five of differing widths at the bottom, hold the staves of wood together. Stained reddish-brown overall with a Japanese character inside a circle painted on the outside of each arm, and Japanese characters painted around the centre of the base.

Vase (a) with two handles on a tripod base with animal motif legs. One side has landscape scene with two human and other side has two houses in landscaper scene. All in slight relief. Dark brown finish. Tray (b) rests on top and in centre has a cup that hangs down and fits into a central hole in the vase.
