Black obsidian point with serrated edges and a broken tip. One side is side-notched, the opposite side is stemmed. There is an adhering matrix on one side. D. Bradley 02/17/99

Basalt, contracting stem, c.r. leaf no serrations. Locality: Collected on Whidbey Island between Ebey Landing and Penn Cove. Collected also by members of Dr. Garfield's family. Identified by DO. Remarks: Width is greatest blade width.* *Information comes from original accession ledger.
Black obsidian stemmed point. M. Christopher 10/23/1998. Dr. Dennis Jenkins, University of Oregon, sent this specimen to Northwest Research Obsidian Studies Laboratory, Corvalis, OR for analysis (on loan 11/30/98 - 4/9/99). A portion of this specimen was removed for obsidian hydration. The source of raw material was determined to be Cougar Mountain. Northwest Research Obsidian Lab placed a paper tag in the specimen bag with the following information: [Lab Contract #] BO-98-91 [Catalog #1989-57/35-M-] 126 [Collection Name] Bergen [Analysis] Specimen No: 53 [Source Location] Cougar Mountain See also the following report from Northwest Research Obsidian Studies Lab for more detailed analytical data: Skinner, Craig E. and Jennifer J. Thatcher 1998 "X-ray Fluoresence Analysis of Artifact Obsidian from the Bergen Site, Fort Rock Lake Basin, Lake County, Oregon." Dr. Jenkins' interpretation of the data was reported at the Northwest Anthropological Conference, 4/8/99 - 4/10/99 in his paper entitled, "Obsidian Characterization and Hydration Results of the Fort Rock Basin Prehistory Project." Black obsidian, shouldered point with a concave base. The point is broken on one edge. There is an adhering matrix on both sides. M. Christopher 01/11/99
White, translucent point, with rounded shoulders. According to accession data, this artifact was recovered from the Allyn IV site by Mr. Buding who lived on the property. Mr. Buding apparently donated this artifact to the Burke Musuem just after John Winterhouse surveyed the site. A description of the Allyn area can be found in, "A Report on An Archaeological Survey on Lower Puget Sound" by John Winterhouse, Jr., 1948 (See Burke Archives or UW Manuscripts and Archives Division).
