Military Door Gods with GuandaoEdz993 a-b

Pair of rectangular papers, each printed in black outline, with an armed military door god (wu menshen; 武門神), a general with a guandao pole weapon (立刀將軍) in green, red, and purple. Faces and background are orange. White paper left plain in some areas. Figures are 64.5 cm high. Figure on part a is wearing a green skirt; figure on part b is wearing a red skirt. The Chinese character福 (fu, fortune) appears on the two fluttering flags behind their shoulders.

Door God PrintEdz992 a-b

Pair of rectangular papers, each printed in black outline with a civil door god (wen menshen; 文門神) figure in red, yellow and green. White paper left uncoloured in some places; background and faces are orange. Door god on part (a) is female, known as a goddess/immortal bringing sons (天仙送子). She holds a fly whisk in her left hand and a baby in her right. The door god in part (b) is male, Number One Scholar (状元及第; the title given to a scholar who achieves first place in the imperial exam). His right hand is raised. The name of the printing shop 新元發 (san1 jyun4 faat3/Xīn yuán fā) appears on the hanging ornament on the scholar. Both figures are 46cm high.

Military Door Gods with GuandaoEdz991

Rectangular paper, printed in black outline, with two armed military door gods (wu menshen; 武門神), generals with a guandao pole weapon (立刀將軍) in red, green and yellow with silver touches added. White paper left uncoloured in places. Faces are red and background is orange. Figures are 23 cm high, printed facing away from each other (normally hung facing each other). The Chinese character福 (fu, fortune) appears on the two fluttering flags behind their shoulders. The name of the printing shop, 志昌 (Zhichang) appears on the clothing on the figure on the right, and 香港 Hong Kong on the figure on the left.
