Door God PrintEdz990 a-b

Pair of rectangular papers, each printed in black outline with a civil door god (wen menshen; 文門神) figure in red, yellow and green. White paper left uncoloured in some places; background and faces are orange. Door god on part (a) is female, known as a goddess/immortal bringing sons (天仙送子). She holds a fly whisk in her left hand, and a baby in her right. The god in part (b) is male, Number One Scholar (状元及第; the title given to a scholar achieved the first place in the imperial exam). His right hand is raised. The name of the printing shop 新元發 (san1 jyun4 faat3/Xīn yuán fā) appears on the hanging ornament on the scholar. The figures are 46 cm high.

Military Door Gods with GuandaoEdz989 a-b

Pair of rectangular papers, each printed in black outline, with an armed door god (wu menshen; 武門神), a general with a guandao pole weapon (立刀將軍) in red, yellow, and blue-green. Faces are red, background is orange. White paper left in some areas. Overlap of blue-green and orange produces olive in some places. Figures are 49 cm. high. Figure in part (a) is wearing a green skirt, figure in part (b) is wearing a red skirt. The Chinese character福 (fu, fortune) appears on the two fluttering flags behind their shoulders, and the name of the printing shop, 義德棧 (ji6 dak1 zaan2/ Yì dé zhàn) appears on their hanging ornament.

The name of the printing shop 保記 (bou2 gei3/ Bǎo jì) appears on the hanging ornament on the scholar, and on the headdress of the goddess. Both are 45 cm high, and would normally be shown facing each other.
