The square has a white cotton centre panel with red embroidery in floral motifs and Chinese characters. Two straps have panels of multicoloured embroidery on loosely woven white fabric. The panels and the top edge of the square are edged with green braid.

Brown glazed cotton headdress. The headdress is rectangular with all sides hemmed. On one end is a separate piece of cloth joined with a flat seam to body of cloth, glazed side down. White cord loops are sewn to corners. The subtle pattern has a tendril motif visible through the fabric.

A flat hat of straw in a circular twill weave of natural colour and varnished on the upper surface. Hat is disc shaped with a round hole in the centre, and finished with a bias band of blue cloth with diametrically opposed cloth loops. Outer circumference is finished with a double rim of split bamboo, affixed to the under surface of the hat with rattan. Two pieces of heavy blue cotton cloth, 15.5 cm. wide, machine stitched into fine pleats and joined with two red and two green strips of fine stitching.
