Deep bowl narrowing at foot with small flared base, two horizontal handles on each side high on body, surface primarily in black glaze with reserved band on foot, underside of base reserved. Further decoration on rear at level of handles consisting of oblique dashes in white between which are two incised lines. Front has a more complex decoration consisting of an incised line below rim under which is a tongue pattern in white followed by two incised lines, a wave pattern in white and two more incised lines. Below this is a band of dots followed by a thick red line, suspended from this are three clusters of grapes in yellowish white, two grape leaves and four tendrils.
Roughly rectangular: bottom has unglazed shallow circular foot 7.3 cm. in diameter, showing light red-brown body; some splashes of light grey-green glaze in thick glassy drops. Broken edges of sherd vary from 1 to 1.5 cm. in thickness. Sherd curves shallowly upward in all directions from foot; finished piece possibly large plate. Upper surface painted in iron underglaze with a shrimp, incomplete. Grey-green glaze pitted and flawed, pools to white around slightly convex centre area.
Rectangular form of fine white porcelain: vertical sides first swell from low unglazed foot, then curve in slightly at rim; indented corners. Pattern: divided diagonally from point near upper-right corner to point near lower-left corner; area to left glazed in glossy red-brown, which wraps from the inside over the outside surface to top of foot; area to right painted in underglaze blue with a landform supporting a composition of bamboo, pine, and prunus, with a cloud form above; on each of the two adjacent outside surfaces a motif of two cash with ribbons in underglaze blue; all shapes rendered with dark blue outlines filled with light blue washes; all covered in a minutely pitted white glaze. On glazed base, well rendered underglaze blue characters read 'Dai men nen sai' meaning 'Made in the Ming Dynasty' (Chinese dynasty, 1368-1644). Junction between brown and white glazes marred on outside by a grey-brown splotch extending over foot to base; repaired crack running through sidewall in area of landform painting.

Ceramic teapot (part a) with lid (part b). Teapot has square base and grooved foot. On each of the four surfaces at bottom, there is a row of three rising blade cicada motifs. The teapot form curves outward into baluster shape. Just below the shoulder, a moulded band of k'uei dragons is interrupted by squared spout springing from a monster mouth. Opposite, there is a handle with a zoomorphic design. Rounded shoulder flattens to square collar. Fitting within is the flange of a slightly domed square lid, surmounted by a hare. On base is white paper label printed in blue with intricately entwined initials in European style: possibly "W.W.W."
Lotus pod shape, light yellow-brown with movable seeds, supported on its side by an extremely dark caltrop nut. Other nuts in varying shades of brown are scattered on the surface in high relief. Four characters impressed beside a small hole in the side.
Brown teapot (part a) and lid (part b). In a compressed globular form in the shape of two lotus pads with incised veining, joined at the edges in a waving line. Short spout in form of stem, opposite handle also shaped as stem. Lid flush with surface of pot has a handle formed with adjoining decoration of lotus pads in high relief, flower in low relief. The is a circular impression on the base with seven small holes. There is an impressed mark in seal characters on inner surface.
Richly gilded jar with image of funeral procession on side. Lid is mostly gold with abstract floral pattern and knob. Four characters marked in gold on underside of base.
Seto ware ceramic tea caddy (without its lid). Globular form on flat base, displaying dark brown body. Thick, glossy red-brown glaze, flecked with yellow-brown, is dark at the lip and pools to dark brown on the minimal neck, thins over the shoulder to broad streaks speckled with yellow-green which end in deep brown pooling well above the base. Four matte brown repairs on lip.
Seto ware ceramic tea caddy (without its lid). Flat base showing rough, dark grey-brown body. Squat cylindrical form curving sharply inward at shoulder to short neck, rounded lip. Thick iridescent coffee-coloured glaze thins over lip, pools darkly beneath it, thinning again at the shoulder. From there dark brown streaks, sometimes exhibiting, crackling fall over the glossy surface to the base, where glaze chipped in one place. Two matte brown repairs, and two gold lacquer ones, located on lip.
