Print of Hara Station (#13). This is one of a series of reproductions of the "53 Post Stations on the Tokaido Hwy." from Nihonbashi to Kyoto (Hoei-do edition). Print is matted on a piece of white-yellow paper and has an additional cover page that folds over the print. A printed inscription on the cover page reads: "Hara A wife and a daughter of the Samurai, with a man-servant. The mountain in the foreground may be Mt. Ashitaka. Mt. Fuji reaches above the frame-line." There are Japanese characters at the top, bottom, and side of the printed message.
Volume II, titled "Earth", of a three volume set (with N2.1130, N2.1131). The volume has seven prints that illustrate various arts. All are wood block printed in basic colours of orange, black, green, white, and gold. Some pages are detached from the binding. Each print is preceded by a title page with central Japanese characters indicating what is depicted in the print. Translations are in pencil below these characters. The first page (part a) depicts two men and two women making fans while one woman is on the floor approaching one of the female fan makers and one man is holding a tether to a gong hanging on the right side. The second page (part b) depicts three men making furniture. One loose page (part c) depicts two men sword sharpening while a woman is in another room, a man is carrying baskets through the front, another man is carrying a sword out in the front, and another man is holding a long object over his right shoulder. Another loose page (part d) depicts three men making bows while two others watch. The next page (part e) depicts two men making rosaries and an elderly woman. The following page (part f) depicts two men working on metal and a woman watching at the back. The last page (part g) depicts two men and six women spinning and weaving to make clothes.

A printed inscription on the cover page reads: “ Otsu This is the fifty-third station of the series, and is famous as a lake-side station. From Otsu, along the former Tokaido to Sanjo at Kyoto, there is a street-car running today." There are Japanese characters at the top, bottom, and side of the printed message.

A printed inscription on the cover page reads: " FUKUROI The shadow of the large tree along the road is a fit location for this tea house. The four figures seem to have walked straight out of the previously mentioned novel 'Hizakurige.'" There are Japanese characters at the top, bottom, and side of the printed message.

Print is matted on a piece of white-yellow paper and has an additional cover page that folds over the print. A printed inscription on the cover page reads: "AKASAKA The sun has set. The inn is found. After taking a bath, a guest has a drink. A masseur comes. In the next room, service girls hastily arrange their [sic] toilet. This is really a scene from "Hizakurige." There are Japanese characters at the top, bottom, and side of the printed message.

This is one of a series of reproductions of the "53 Post Stations on the Tokaido Hwy" from Nihonbashi to Kyoto (Hoei-do edition). The print is matted on a piece of yellow-white paper and has a cover page that flips over the print. The cover page has a printed inscription that reads: " TOTSUKA Vicinity of the present Ofuna Station. The sigh post reads "Hidari Kamakura-machi" (Left, the Kamakura road). It seems to indicate the road to Zushi and Kamakura, along which one sees the famous Kanazawa Hakkei (Eight Views of Kanazawa)." There are Japanese characters on the top, side, and bottom of the printed message.
