The item search helps you look through the thousands of items on the RRN and find exactly what you’re after. We’ve split the search into two parts, Results, and Search Filters. You’re in the results section right now. You can still perform “Quick searches” from the menu bar, but if you’re new to the RRN, click the Search tab above and use the exploratory search.

Two fragmentary tapestry panels in brown, red, and two yellows. Major design is a diamond with four hooks arranged in radial symmetry. Repeated at least four times. Borders of interlocked step frets and stripes on both long edges of each fragment. Blue yarn used to sew two panels together for a short distance. Remnants of more blue yarn on both outside edges of the panels. Many holes and unraveled yarns. One panel discoloured. Parts of all selvedges of both panels are present. Z-spun, two plied s yarn, however there are some z-spun single wefts.
Small square of light brown cotton weave fabric half-filled with brocade step-triangle. The exact negative image fills the background space. One warp selvedge with three heading wefts and one weft selvedge are present; two edges are cut. Z-spun, 2 plied s.
Plain white woven cotton with two birds and geometric motifs which are brocaded in red to resemble tapestry. The birds have hooked beaks, large tail and head feathers. The wing is very small. The birds alternate vertical position; one bird is right-side up, the second is up-side down. There is a border of hooks on two sides and a solid thick line on the third side. One finished edge is partially intact. Some z-spun cotton yarns and z-spun, two plied cotton and camelid.
A cut section of a red tapestry band with single feline ? with crescent headdress. The feline has a blue body with red dots and wide, brown outlines. The outline is serrated along the back and the tail ends in three stacked triangles. Three birds in red, black and dark yellow form a line below the tail area. The tapestry background is yellow in this area.
Fragment of plain weave cloth with 'patchwork' design using interlocked warps to join adjacent colour areas. White, red and brown are major colours with accents of yellow, blue and gold. Rectangles, comprised of four step-frets in rotational symmetry, line up colour-wise in diagonal lines. Fragment is made of four narrow loom widths, joined by sewing. Weft joins sewn. One outer selvedge present. Bits of sewing thread indicate it was sewn to another fabric along the intact edge.
A small, intact square of red fabric with 4 selvedges. Birds in bifold rotational symmetry interlock with similar designs in a contrasting colour. The designs are worked in supplementary warp and weft floats of dark yellow, dark blue and white. The red ground cloth is very loosely woven and the selvedges show no sign of having been sewn to another fabric. Z-spun; 2 plied s.
Brown and white double cloth with warp-wise stripes of bird motifs alternated with solid coloured stripes. Two types of bird designs are alternated: birds in rotational symmetry sharing the same beak and long beaked birds in diamonds with hook outlines. Weft-wise bands of solid colour at both ends. Three selvedges, including one with heading cord, are present. One cut end. Z-spun, two plied s yarns.
A short, wide poncho shirt in two shades of natural brown cotton. Dark brown, supplementary weft pattern band near bottom of shirt has diamond lattice flanked by scrolls. Constructed of two loom widths which are folded transverse to the warp and sewn together along weft selvedges, except for neck slit and armholes. Short warp fringe along lower edge. Z-spun, 2 plied s (warps) and z-spun wefts.
A cut fragment of a woven patterned band with serrated diagonal rows of birds worked in 5 colours: brown, red, yellow, blue and white. The outside edges are purple and with a red stripe. A few white sewing threads remain along one edge. The structure is a complementary weave with outlining and substitution. Z-spun, 2 plied s yarns, also single s-spun (white).
Black beads woven flat with two alternating evenly-spaced pink bead motifs at intervals along length. Both are cross designs, the shorter one with box motif, the longer with a diamond. Warps at each end of length tied off with two short sections of cord each. These are tightly wrapped with alternating pink and black beads. Tassled loops of strung beads in same colours attached to ends of cords.
