The tip has a feather attached at the end and is coiled with red and yellow plant fibre, below which, there are the following: four sets of four small barbs; three sets of four increasingly longer barbs; and two sets of four small barbs. The point is decorated with a bright red and yellow grass sleeve with a horizontal zig zag pattern, a carved band that is emphasized with white and that consists of two figures (each of which has eyes and a triple upward pointing nose), and a plant fibre ball. Bright red and yellow plant fibre coiling are at either ends of the grass sleeve. The entire shaft is covered with a bright red and yellow woven sleeve that has a horizontal zig zag pattern around a central diamond-shaped pattern. The dark brown wood shaft is plain and tapers at the end.

The point is decorated with a deep red and brown grass sleeve with a horizontal zig zag pattern around a central diamond shape pattern and a carved band that is emphasized with white and that consists of two figures (each of which has eyes with a frown-like feature, and a double upward pointing nose). Deep red and brown plant fibre coiling are at either ends of the grass sleeve. The entire shaft is covered with a deep red and brown woven sleeve that has a similar design as above. The dark brown wood shaft is plain and tapers at the end.

Sake ContainerN2.335 a-b

Sake container. Cylindrical and slightly tapered from top to bottom, with a metal handle on the side. The container's staves are held together with twisted bands of bamboo, two at the top and three at the bottom, and lid has a plugged opening. A stopper (part b), also a tapered cylinder, fits into a hole in the top of the container near the edge. The top of the container is red lacquer with a black lacquer edge, and the sides as well as the bamboo are stained reddish-brown and coated in varnish.
