A rattle made of four tubular seed pods, each about 13 cm. long with a 2 cm. diameter, tightly bound together with woven rattan in a loosely wrapped pattern. The tubes have seeds inside. The ends of the tubes are plugged with fibrous material.
Small beadwork square with silk border; background of opaque white beads patterned in yellow, blue and red with a central stylized geometric form, and with a bird and 2 different animals on each side; wide border of green and black beads patterned with small geometric forms in yellow, white and red; edged with a narrow band of white, blue and red beads. The beadwork is bordered by 4 light red, silk rectangles which are stitched together. There is a woven pattern of fine red and green stripes and with a gold-coloured metallic floating weft (?). Red cotton (?) backing and red silk binding. Hanging loop on each corner; considerable fading and disintegration of woven border and binding; many metallic elements missing; one small hole in lower silk border; lower right hanging loop is dissimilar to the other three.
Flat, slipper shoe with closed toe and heel. The finely woven tubular upper is stitched to the woven thick squared toed sole. The shoe is shaped by a dart at the top, creating a v-shaped ramp. The top of the shoe is trimmed with a woven band of light red and a yellow line. The body is embroidered from heel to toe with three coloured lines, two brown and one green. Short, cylindrical basket (a) with lid (b). Rim is twined; cedar bark flange looped with cedar bark warp strands. Sides are grass wrapped twining. Cedar bark and grass base, plain twined with checker work centre. Design has geometric motif around middle of basket in purple-blue, yellow and purple. Seven concentric bands at bottom in purple, yellow, and red-purple. The lid is wrapped twined grass with geometric design of sunburst circle at centre in dark purple, green, orange and purple. Geometric motif between centre design and edge, in blue, purple, yellow, and red-purple. Rim has seven concentric bands of blue, purple, yellow, red-purple, and purple-blue.
Rectangular cloth with dark blue ground and a light blue pattern, divided into smaller rectangles, four wide by six long, each separated by three light blue, alternating with three dark blue lines. Designs vary, some are repeated, and include geometric and representational designs of birds, flowers, possibly trees and animals. There are wide hems on both ends, narrow hem on one side.
Rectangular cloth with a background pattern of orange and white shapes, overlaid with pattern of allover short horitontal blue bands with open holes, and large repeating graphic map of Sierra Leone, banner overhead, "Sierra Leone Independence 1961", and crossed stems of leaves below. Two selvedges have a border of unprinted cloth with some light blue dye running onto it.
Domed hat consisting of three woven strips sewn diagonally selvedge to selvedge with a 9 cm diameter circle of the same cloth at the top centre. The strips are slightly pleated and are folded up on the outside of the base to form a 4 cm wide rim. Each strip has a pattern of stripes; broad black selvedge, white stripe, broad brown stripe and four narrow black stripes separated by three narrow white, then a broad brown, white and broad black before a white selvedge.
Striped short sleeve shirt with side pockets. The pattern is of vertical black, blue and white stripes. The shirt is constructed of strips of woven cloth sewn selvedge to selvedge. The shirt is square shaped with a round neck and short, attached sleeves. Extending down from the neck is a reinforced button area with two buttons. There is a pocket on each side, wrapping from the front to back. There are slits up each side, ending at the pockets. There is a thick black hem on the inside of the sleeves, neck and the bottom of the shirt.
Cloth composed of a very long strip of woven cloth with black, blue and white stripes that run the length. Two stick segments are attached at one end.
Rectangular cloth consisting of eleven narrow, 12.5 cm woven cloth strips, sewn selvedge to selvedge. Pattern is a checkerboard of 12.5 cm by 10.5 cm of black and white squares, 1 cm by 0.5 cm stripes of alternating black and white, creating a plaid type weave. 1.5 cm white fringe at both ends. Diamond design off centre. Many stains. Generally loosely sewn at selvedges, and missing between 5th and 6th strips, from left side on one end. There is a pull in the weave 58 cm from same end, 35 cm from right side.
