Bag3425/8

Rectangular woven flax bag with geometric designs in brown and natural colour. Weaving has alternating vertical bands of colour, and double twisted sections with an X-like appearance. Around the sides and bottom edge are thick layers of fringe, alternating between sections of brown or natural. The top has two thin twisted handles with tassels.

Woven bilum (bag) covered with layered rows of brown feathers on one side. Extending from the tightly woven band at the top is a short handle. The bag alternates between rows of dark brown and dark reddish-brown. On one side of the bag, dark brown feathers with light grey tips, are attached by looping the feather's shaft through the bag, and securing it by bending it back through a split in the shaft.

Pocket Bag3377/8

Tiny embroidered envelope bag, made by folding and stitching the edges of the rectangle together, leaving the other pointed end open as a flap. The exterior is embroidered with fine repeating diamond design in gold, burgundy, black and light green. All edges are finished with red trim. Two small tufts of green thread are attached on either side of the flap, and one yellow tuft at the point. The bag is lined with faded black textile.

Pocket Bag3377/7

Small embroidered envelope bag, made by folding and stitching three corners of a square together, leaving the fourth corner open as a flap. The exterior is embroidered with a large repeating geometric design (zigzag with arrows extending out from each corner in alternating directions) in burgundy, orange-gold and beige, and one line of black. All edges are finished with gold metallic thread. Two long pieces of thread are attached at the point of the flap. The bag is lined with a teal and red machine printed cotton textile, with a small leaf and berry pattern.

The front is stitched with a red and white checkered panel and flanked top and bottom two abstract designs in blue, clear, white, and black glass and seed beads. Edges finished with brown binding on the bag, and black binding on the strap. Edged overall in white pony beads.

Heavily beaded bag with long beaded neck strap. The rectangular pouch is heavily beaded with white and navy blue designs. The opening has a band of red wool trade cloth, hemmed with a dark yellow-green stitched trim, and is lined with white beads. Beaded design on front and back in clear, dark blue and light blues beads. The bottom of the bag is a flap, with red wool trade cloth on the exterior, lined with beige with black and red floral patterned fabric on interior. The strap has a continuous design in white beads down the centre.

Black embroidered bag with wide strap. Bag front has central design of two red X’s with indigo, light blue, orange, light green, dark green, white, pink and yellow diagonal lines inside of it. Lines make V shapes and diamonds. Above central design is a band with a Greek key pattern done in light blue and orange. Band trimmed with orange and indigo stripes on top and pink and light blue stripes on bottom. Beneath central design is another band with a Greek key pattern done in light blue and indigo. Band trimmed with orange and light green stripes on top and pink and light blue stripes on bottom. Bag back has four rows of geometric shapes. Top row has three shapes coloured yellow, pink, light blue, indigo, orange and dark green. Second row has four coloured white, pink, light green, orange, indigo, yellow and light blue. Third row has five coloured pink, light green, red, yellow, light blue, indigo, orange and white. Bottom row has four coloured dark green, orange, light blue, indigo, white, pink, yellow, red and light green. Above rows is a band with a Greek key pattern done in dark green and red. Band trimmed with indigo and orange stripes on top and dark green and purple stripes on bottom. On both front and back of bag, in the background, there are thin orange vertical lines. Interior front side of bag has a light green stripe embroidered along top edge. The wide strap has an orange line running down the centre of it. Strap extends past the bag opening, covering half of the bag’s sides. Designs along the bottom portions of the strap on both sides. Right side of strap has small grouping of light green and pink stripes. Underneath the grouping there are two geometric shapes coloured light green, yellow, indigo, light blue and pink. The bottom of the strap has small grouping of pink, light green and orange stripes. Left side of strap has small grouping of light green, yellow, pink and light blue stripes. Below it are three geometric shapes coloured white, pink, yellow, light blue, indigo and light green. Bag is hemmed but strap is not.

Orange embroidered bag with strap and fringe attached to bottom corners. Bag front has central design of indigo crisscross pattern with light green, pink, dark green and yellow diamonds inside of it. Dark green, yellow, light blue, light green and pink triangles around central design, pointing inwards. Above design is a light blue diamond shape with an indigo line in the centre of it. Lines radiate outward from diamond. On either side are V shapes with small lines pointing outward from them, towards their closest edge. V’s are done in black, dark green, pink and white. Section with V’s and the diamond trimmed with dark green, white and indigo stripes on top and light blue and red line stripes on bottom. Bottom of bag front embroidered with light blue, white, indigo and pink lines. Bag back has eight rows of diamonds done in indigo, pink, dark green, black yellow, white, red and light blue. Above rows is black diamond with lines radiating outward from it. On either side are V shapes with small lines pointing outward from them, towards their closest edge. V’s are done in pink, white and indigo. Section with V’s and the diamond trimmed with light blue and indigo stripes on top and light green and indigo stripes on bottom. Bottom of bag back embroidered with tan, dark blue, red and dark green lines. Both bag sides have small groupings of three stripes. First grouping on right side done in indigo and pink. Second grouping done in dark green and black. Third grouping done in red and yellow. Fourth grouping done in light blue and indigo. Fifth grouping done in pink and black. Bottom grouping done in indigo and light green. First grouping on left side done in indigo and light green. Second grouping done in pink and black. Third grouping done in dark green and indigo. Fourth grouping done in red and yellow. Fifth grouping done in indigo and light blue. Bottom grouping done in pink and light green. Bag is hemmed and has interior lining.
