Wool BeaterA6028

Wooden wool beater with a long blade, which curves upwards at the pointed end. The hand-grip is inset from the blade and has a wider square-shaped knob at its end. One surface of the blade is stained a dark red-brown colour, but the majority of the wood is a yellowish brown colour. The edges are rough.

Wood squaree beater pounder tapers to become a round handle which flares outward slightly at the end. Three sides of the beater have reeded grooves, with the other side being flat. Used for pounding off bark cloth from the mulberry tree until it is wider to create the tapa.

A long wood squared beater with longitudinal reeded incised grooves on all four sides and a small rounded cylindrical handle that is decorated with spiral rows of dots. The top of each side angles toward the centre, creating four triangles forming a point with four equally spaced big ridges.
