Fragment: Boat1056/1 a-b

The larger piece (part a) has a short end which extends into a larger more rounded curve with the two edges curving relatively parallel to each other. The smaller piece (part b) has a longer end with a thinner curve as the two edges curve oppositely to each other. Both pieces have a paddle-like shape to them.

A miniature, tan coloured hide boat with wooden beams and mast, a cloth sail, and string ropes. Part b is a miniature wooden pole (harpoon?) with a metal shaft attached to the end.

Model BoatNa1075 a-f

Wide, round-bottomed boat (a) with sharply pointed bow and stern. Frame consists of wood slats fitted and lashed together with sinew. Skin is tightly stretched over frame and laced down. Boat has oar locks, formed by two pegs projecting upwards, two on starboard side, two on port, and three wood thwarts. Boat has five long, carved wooden paddles: (b) to (f) each flare gradually from handle end to blunt paddle end. All wood of boat and oars is yellow-white in colour.
