Bodice3425/4 a-b

Woven bodice (part a) with embroidered band across top. At centre, there is a white diamond, with the diamond shape radiating out from the centre in black and white sideways V's. Two black fabric shoulder straps are sewn on one end, and pinned in place by safety pins on the back. The upper section of the bodice fastens at the back with metal hook and clasps, leaving the bottom fabric open and drapey. The headband (part b) matches the embroidery on the bodice. It is composed of two pieces of fabric with bilaterally symmetrical designs, stitched together on one end, and attached by three small pieces of black elastic strap on the other. The interior is lined with black fabric. A typed label with the name "Deirdre Parkes" is stitched to the lining of the front, centre.

Bodice3102/2

Woven bodice. The garment is a long piece of intricately patterned woven wool, wide at centre and narrowing toward ends. The patterns are linear and triangular shapes and motifs in red, black, yellow and white. A braid in the same colours is attached at the top to create shoulder straps. The bodice fastens at the back with a strip of velcro. The interior edges are lined with thin strips of a stiff, loose-weave, polyester fabric.

Bodice composed of a rectangle of black fabric sewn together at the ends to form a tube. The two corners that are not sewn together are darned with a thick black thread, which replaces the cloth. Three fine red stripes run horizontally.

Woven bodice with wide embroidered panel across upper section. At centre of panel is a column of four diamonds, filled with triangular patterns; differently patterned rows of chevrons extend from either side of central column. Column of concentric diamonds along left side of bodice; all patterns are done in red, white, and black. Two black fabric shoulder straps are stitched along top edge; bottom section of bodice consists of three plain pieces of black fabric. Upper section of bodice secures at the back with snap fasteners, leaving bottom section open and drapey.
