Brooch3395/2

Fibula style brooch composed of a large flat crescent-shaped piece and a large pin attached to one side of the brooch. The front of the brooch is heavily decorated with raised designs. At centre, three large flowers sit within a wreath of leaves. From this centre design outwards, the designs are mirrored on either side of the brooch. Along the lower edge, is a double helix-like design with a raised dot in the centre of each circular gap. Above, floral designs expand out towards the tips of the crescent, with a fish on either end. A single hole is pierced through the right edge. Each side has a bulbous end, each with a different hallmark stamped. The pin has a flat section that wraps around the ornament, and ends with its tip being wrapped around itself.

Brooch of a filigree fish in profile. Fish has a small red jewel-like eye (glass or mineral?). A 25 Kurus Mehmed V coin is inset by the tail. The size and shape of the coin blends with the scales on the fish's body. The coin shows an open laurel wreath with a five-pointed star between the tips at top. In the centre, translated from Arabic "May he be victorious. Struck in Constantinople. 1327", while the reverse of the coin is plain. There are six small metal globules on various points of the fish. The back has a large pin, extending horizontally along the length of the fish.

Thin, carved brooch in the form of a diving killer whale, with seventeen small abalone inlays throughout the design. A human face in profile is carved in the dorsal fin. There is a vertical metal pin clasp on reverse. Brownish resin fills in the concave back, and holds the pin in place.

Round silver brooch, or pendant, depicting Tchumos? (salt-water beaver). Animal faces outwards, large eyes to either side, rounded nose with curled nostrils over a wide mouth showing top and bottom teeth with large incisors at centre. Cross hatched tail is placed at bottom centre between feet and legs. The back has a brooch pin as well as a loop, for hanging it as a pendant on a chain. HAIDA ART / Reid inscription on back.

Rectangular brooch, or pendant of halibut fisherman design. Rectangular dark background; an animal sits with a long straight back, a large head with sharp pointed teeth, knees bent, tail curled, holding in its clawed hands the mouth of a halibut attached to a fishing line. A raised silver border surrounds the image. The back has a brooch pin as well as a loop, for hanging it as a pendant on a chain. HAIDA ART / Reid inscription on back.

Gold brooch in a raven design. Bird’s wings are slightly spread and angled down, long feathers on left separated and defined. Legs are bent at knees and tail feathers fall between and below them. Head is large and turned to the side, with open mouth, large eye and squared head crest. The surface of the brooch is textured. The back has a brooch pin running from the nose to the opposite wing. "Reid 70" inscription on back.
