From card: "Gift of Edward Namegus, 1932, who had inherited it from his grandfather. Oblong black velvet and sateen on opposite side of a semi-stiff inside, beaded around edge in red and green. Most of front covered with large solid, hour-glass shaped design in white and a few blue beads, and square arch at top in same colors. Small floral spray in pink beads at each side. Supposed to be Thunder-bird design, gotten from a dream, very sacred, kept hidden, worn around neck (by a ribbon) mainly in bear hunting."

Turner together with Inuit and Innu knowledge. Identified there: "Bear ornament. A bear lip ornament used by the Innu, possibly as a charm, collected by Turner at Ft. Chimo. It is unclear whether these are made from the skin of a black bear (Ursus americanus) or a brown bear (Ursus arctos)."

Body adornment (karawut) woven of bark and fibre. The object is coloured with ochre, charcoal and lime, and takes a basic human shape with head at top, protruding nose running down the length of the face, large open eyes, and open mouth below nose. At bottom are two thin legs with dangling cowrie shells as feet. The chest is thickly padded. Lines of cowrie shells are sewn onto the torso and upper legs, and boar tusks, two per side, are attached along the midpoint edges. At back, a short loop of fibre is attached at mid-upper shoulder.

Small earth charm made from mottled jade, in dark brown, grey and light orange-white. The piece is a cube, with a wide hole bored through the centre. Corners are shaped into circles around the mouth of the hole at both ends.

Carved charm in the shape of a fish, with small tail, rounded head and squared fins. Piece is very thin and flat, made of light green jade with veins of dark blue. Edges are beveled. A small hole is bored through one side close to the edge, possibly to enable piece to be hung on a string.
