Adinkra Cloth1774/1

Adinkra (stamped design) cloth composed of seven strips of white cloth joined lengthwise with bands of kente weaving. Afe (comb lines) and kente divide the cloth into fifty-six squares; squares are decorated with gourd stamp patterns, as well as hatching and cross-hatching; designs done in dark brown. In between two sets of afe are ahoma/nnonoma - "double dono drums" symbols. There are two large light-blue textile company stamps on the reverse.

Rainbow coloured stripes at centre of plain neutral textile, with squares and horizontal lines through middle. Two thin stripes of red and white on either side, then wider multi-coloured band with same pattern as centre, then multi-coloured band at edges. Predominant colours are red, green, yellow, blue, pink, purple, and orange.

Rectangular, red wool woven textile with a dark blue fabric frame embroidered in red, white, yellow and green geometric design of zigzags and circles with a floral motif in the corners. Along the edge is a thin green band with white embroidered diamonds. Above the blue band is repeating yellow, green and white diamonds, stars and floral pattern on a red ground. In the middle are four yellow, green and white star-like shapes in each corner.
