Cricket Container1042/8 a-b

Basket shaped container with loop handle connected to two opposite sides. Sides have very thin, rectangular holes in two bands around body; in between these bands is a thin band of floral decoration; other decorations of butterflies, crickets and geometric shapes. Part b is a lid with another band of rectangular holes with berries and leaves in high relief as a knob.

Container1459/7 a-b

Diamond-shaped container with vertical sides and very slightly domed shoulder; one foot at each corner. Sides are decorated with two landscape scenes, each one covering two faces. One scene is of four people sitting by a river with hills and a mountain in the background. The other is of two people sitting on the ground with a mountain in the background. The rest of the surface is dark blue-black with gold metallic floral decorations. Base has three gold Japanese characters in its centre. The lid (part b) is domed with a central knob and is decorated with gold decorations on a dark blue-black ground.

Flat bottomed container that domes into a tall neck that starts very small and then flares quite tall. Exterior and neck's interior are decorated with an overall floral and vine pattern in blue on white ground; base and interior are glazed white.

Lime Container1461/2 a-b

A complete coconut nutshell with a wooden stopper on top and two holes through which goes a fibre string handle that has a metal nail pinned through it. The design consists of dotted cirles in a row on a horizontal white band in the middle of the coconut nutshell from which five equally spaced vertical bands with a zig zag pattern go up to a horizontal line near the top. The wood stopper has a row in the middle inlaid with side-by-side x-shapes of mother of pearl shell.

Container1331/3 a-b

Square box with lid and bottom each being half the height of the box overall. The lid is held in place by a lip on the inner rim of the bottom piece. Box is decorated with splashes of light grey glaze; each side has a brown Japanese character centred on it; interior of both top and bottom have small amounts of glaze. Underside of bottom piece is unglazed and has two lines of Japanese characters in dark brown.

Container1060/6 a-b

An oval box (part a) and lid (part b) covered in geometric quillwork. On top of the lid there is a black diamond-shaped pattern outlined with blue. The central diamond has orange vertical and horizontal lines in the centre. The outer partial diamonds have white diagonal lines in a feather-shape. The background is white with orange triangles and blue lines. Around the sides of the lid is an alternating pattern of white diamond-vertical line-dot-vertical line-diamond. Along the sides of the container are zigzag lines starting with white and orange at the top all the way down to blue, black, white, red, and blue and orange on the bottom.

Container1187/13

A wood piece with two parts attached to each other with sinew at both ends. The first part has a hollow bowl-shape with a short flat end at one side and a flat duck-bill-like end at the other side. It is carved with lines of triangles. The other part is flat and follows the contours of the first part and is carved on the outside with lines of zig zags and triangles making a geometric quadrangle pattern.
