Face Cover3553/1 a-b

Rectangular fabric face covering, with coins and beadwork across surface (part a). Covering has a plain red centre and is bordered by alternating white cotton braids and silver beads; triangular charms stitched along top edge of red centre. Two eye holes cut out above rectangle; fabric ridge sewn down middle of covering, imitating a nose. Ridge has coins attached along the top edge, and plastic beads and buttons along the sides. Two thin, pink embroidered bands attached to sides of covering, with strands of metal beads hanging from the bottom edges; red and green tassels throughout beads. Embroidered bands have columns of orange, green, and yellow diamonds along them. Additional coin and bead decorations along bottom edge of face covering. Back is lined with floral fabric and has a leather tie on the left side (lower half- part b); two fabric loops in each corner along top edge.

Pubic Cover3476/2

Mushroom-shaped, bark cloth pubic cover. Consists of a bamboo cylinder, wrapped in bark cloth and secured with plant fibre, and circular head. Cylinder extends from back of cover. Structure of head formed with an inner strip of bamboo. Front is painted white. Cylinder is visible from front, in centre, and painted red, with a matching dotted line bordering it.

Puppet Frame Cover3420/80

Large textile that serves as a cover for the antelope puppet body frame (3420/99). Composed of three textiles, stitched together to create a large rectangluar textile, with another textile over the centre of the lower two. The top woven textile has horizontal bands of dark blue, dark green, and smaller bands of red, orange and green. There are small orange, red or white tassels in spaced in rows across the bands. The other two textiles form the bottom layer. One is red and white checkerboard, and the other is green and off-white checkerboard. There are roughly cut holes, three on one side, and two on the other, for attaching puppets to the frame through.

Puppet Frame Cover3420/84

Large textile composed of five different textiles, sewn together. At centre, a large black rectangle, that forms lays flat on the frame. From this, a different textile is attached on each side, and hangs down to cover the sides. The textile at the front has vertical stripes in black and white, with teal, orange, blue and green. Both sides are made of horizontal strips of fabric, loosely stitched together to form a textile. The left panel is covered with small tassels. The back is covered by a textile with repeating diamonds made out of small squares.

Puppet Frame Cover3420/82

Large quilted textile that serves as a cover for the antelope puppet body frame (3420/100). Composed of two mismatched sized quilts, stitched together along the long edge, creating a lip. The overall design is repeating diamonds composed of small squares in various colours. Some white and yellow squares have been embellished with black embroidery. There are five roughly cut holes, three on one side, and two on the other, for attaching puppets to the frame underneath.

Camel Cover3377/16 a-b

Camel cover. Large textile meant to drape over an animal's body. The frame is somewhat I-shaped with a solid rectangular body and two cross-sections of fabric that would drape near the animal’s limbs. Attached at one end is a head cover with triangular eye flaps and strips of fabric that would drape over the muzzle. On both sides, between the hanging strips and attached to the triangles along the main body, are four rows by eight columns of small fabric squares attached on corners to either the next square or main fabric. This is repeated with smaller squares of fabric hanging from the head cover. The squares have solid silks in olive green or deep purple, and Ikat pattern. Three attached squares (part b) have detached from the cover. The shoulder fabric and head cover have fringe or fabric tassels. The fabric face is deep pink-purples and greens, and is backed with reds and black.
