At the top of the bookmark, a whale in an arched position, releases air from its blowhole. Baleen lines the mouth of the whale and the pectoral flipper is decorated with a tower-shape and an oval. Below the whale is a large human skull with a cross drawn in the centre of the forehead; the left-side of the skull is lightly shaded. Below the skull are two smaller whales; the left whale has baleen teeth and swims in a downwards motion while the right whale swims upwards and does not have baleen. A human arm and hand, decorated with an ovoid, extends from the right side of the skull along the right edge to the bottom of the page. The reverse-side of the bookmark is a machine-printed promotional advert for Malaspina College. The background is a dark turquoise colour with two dark pink lines running along the left side of the page. Within a white rectangle, the college's subject offerings and address are printed in dark pink and dark turquoise.

Drawn at the very top of the page is a partially submerged lightning serpent(?); the upper body of the creature is out of the water while the snake-like tail is submerged. Drawn beneath the serpent's mouth is a human-like figure descending headfirst into the water. To the left of the serpent's tail is another human-like figure, to the right of the tail is a human skull. Drawn under the tail are two more human-like figures; the right figure has male genitalia. Below the human figures is a heron(?) with a pointy beak and long neck; small bubble-like circles exit the heron's mouth. Beneath the heron is a vertically positioned seal(?) covered in fur and decorated with curving lines with intermediate dots. At the bottom of the page, a multi-limbed piece of kelp extends upwards from the seabed. The artist's signature, a "M" with a line through it and two dots, is in the bottom right corner. The pectoral fin is decorated with an ovoid where the fin attaches to the body. The dorsal fin is flat with an ovoid decorating the joint. The tail is drawn with a circle design at the base, and both tail flukes are embellished with unshaded tower-shapes. Between the two flukes is a sideways human skull drawn in light grey. Below the float is a hook-shape with a small fin drawn on the right end; at the other end of the hook is a small human skull. To the right of the hook are two decorated fins; the left is shaded with pencil except for a small uncoloured oval towards the top; the right one is unshaded and is decorated with an oval and three tower-shapes. At the base of the two fins are two human skulls, the left skull is drawn upright and the right skull is inverted. A third wide fin(?), decorated with an oval, extends from the frontal bone of the inverted skull. In the bottom left section of the bookmark, a large human skull is drawn overtop of a shaded whale(?) head. The reverse-side of the bookmark is a vertically oriented, machine-printed image of a red-brown rabbit in a green plaid jacket holding a yellow pocket watch in one hand and an open book in the other. The phrase "SO MANY BOOKS" is printed in yellow at the top and "SO LITTLE TIME" at the very bottom of the bookmark.

A lightning bolt(?), with an interior creature extends from the lightning serpent's mouth towards the bottom of the bookmark. At the top there are three lines of handwritten text. At the bottom of the front bookmark is the artist's signature, a "M" with a line through it and two dots. The interior-side of the top bookmark is blank. The bottom bookmark is a machine-printed image of the Prince of Wales Hotel in Waterton Lakes National Park; a tree is in the centre of the image, to the right the hotel is aglow, and a body of water is in the background. On the interior of the bottom bookmark, three lines from the anthem "O Canada!" are printed along the vertical plane.

The tail flukes are both decorated with an oval with two intersecting lines surrounded by a larger oval. The reverse-side of the bookmark is machine-printed in black ink. The bookstore's name, "The Worm," is printed at the top, below is a quote by Aldous Huxley, the store's book specialities, and at the very bottom is the store's address and phone number.
