AMEC Analysis: Years (min): 1880 Years (max): 1900 Comments: This boot heel is made of 9 leather pieces cobbled together with square headed nails. One leather shoe fragment representing the heel of a boot. Object is comprised of layers of leather held with square iron nails. Appears to have been cut from shoe. Iron nails are corroded. Leather is fragmenting, especially the interior layer. Layered leather is delaminating. L. Penttila 4/1/2010

AMEC Analysis: Comments: This is a heavily corroded piece of metal 6 inches in length and 7/8 inches wide. It may have functioned as a handle or a detail piece. One iron fragment, possibly a handle. Significantly corroded on exterior surface resulting in loss of material along length. Interior surface is corroded and has red , brown, black and grey accretions and discolorations. AMEC Analysis: Comments: This is a piece of brown leather approximately 9 inches in length and 2 3/4 inches wide. It is tanned and appears to have been attached to another piece of leather or clothing. Two slits are cut across its midsection One leather fragment. Fragment is a rectangle with two slits cut along the center line. Holes indicate the external edges and the slits' edges were sewn to another article with skin-side out. Grey residue on both sides. AMEC Analysis: Comments: This is a distal portion of a billiards cue - it appears snapped off to 12 1/2 inches in length. There is no tip. One terminal fragment of a game cue with brass and leather tip. Several cracks, especially near the tip-end. Object warped along length giving a slightly bowed appearance. L. Penttila 3/1/2010

Shoe Fragment, Composite45KI765/P27-1

AMEC Analysis: Years (max): 1920 Comments: This is the heel and sole of a women's boot. The heel consists of 11 strips of leather cobbled with square headed nails. The sole is also leather and stitched on. Several eyelets are still attached indicating this was made after 1874. Three fragments of one heeled boot. Largest fragment labeled 45KI765/P27-1a, middle fragment labeled 45KI765/P27-1b and smallest fragment labeled 45KI765/P27-1c. Size and shape indicate a woman's shoe. The sole is leather, the interior support is a thicker leather and the exterior surface is a finer leather. Shoe is held together with round iron nails and the sole is sewn to the body of the shoe, including the heel and toe. One eyelet fastener is present. Exterior leather is very worn and fragile. Iron nails are corroded. Heel layers are partially delaminated. The toe end has fully delaminated. Grey residue on upper and lower surfaces. L. Penttila 4/1/2010

AMEC Analysis: Comments: This is a piece of fabric found at a depth of 10 feet. The fabric is the cuff and an additional eight inches from a pair of canvas pants. One fragment of cloth fabric, probably the hem of a garment. The fabric is a coarse weave. The hem is machine sewn. Grey dirt residue throughout, some engrained in fabric. Object is folded and stiff. AMEC Analysis: Comments: This is the eyelet portion of a lace-up leather boot with cotton lining. There are seven eyelets and four lacing posts. One shoe fragment representing the lacing portion of the shoe. Metal fasteners are fixed in the leather portion, while the remainder of the shoe was cotton. Seven eyelets and four lacing posts are present, all machine added. The stitches are machine-made. Large accretion of grey sediment (dirt) with fabric; sloughing of this material may cause future weight changes. Brass fixtures are corroded. L. Penttila 4/1/2010
