No apparent mold seams, possibly shoulder-height mold (IMACS). Empressed Maker's Mark: (Side) KUTNOW'S POWDER (base) K's P Kutnow's Powder was a weight-loss "effervescent." One brown glass medical bottle with monarch or erie oval base and flat or patent finish. Seams run up two opposing sides from base to shoulder. Seams rubbed out at neck, indicative of hand finishing. Embossed Makers Mark: "OZOMULSION" Maker's mark indicates the bottle was made by T.A. Slocum Company at 68 Pine Street in New York City. Dried remnants on inside of bottle. Two vertical mold seams end within 1" of finish, Cup-bottom mold seam present. A large amount of a dried brown substance is present on the interior which has loosened within the bottle. Medical Bottle Fragment, Glass45KI765/P18-1

AMEC Analysis: Part: Whole Years (min): 1850 Years (max): 1920 Neck Finish: Lipping Tool Comments: The mouth is broken off. Two clear glass fragments that cross mend to form one bottle with prescription finish and hub or golden gate base profile. The larger fragment is labeled 45KI765/P18-1a, the smaller fragment is labeled 45KI765/P18-1b. Two vertical seam molds on rectangular corners extending from post-bottom seam and continuing to 1/4" of the finish (similar to hand-made examples). Larger fragment has grey and black discoloration on the interior and grey discoloration on the exterior. Smaller fragment has significant crazing or cracking and black residue on the interior. L. Two vertical mold seams extend to the edge of the base and to .75" from the finish. Base mark (possibly a valve mark) indicates automatic manufacture. Two clear glass bottle with prescription finish and salamander oval profile. Mold seams are 2 vertical seams running from cup-mold base to 1/4" below finish. Embossed Maker's Mark: 586 Grey/brown residue on interior and exterior with accretion of same on interior. Red/brown residue on interior. Some iridescence on exterior surface. L. Penttila 3/29/2010 Bottle was broken where the shoulder meets the neck during cataloging at the Burke Museum. One white (milk) glass medical bottle/jar, likely contained ointment. Round base with wide-mouth interrupted external thread finish. Dried substance present on inside and outside of bottle. Base is similar to crown oval and monarch or erie oval bases with three straight sides and one curved side connected with rounded corners. Mold seams include: horizontal cup-bottom mold seam at heel with two side seams extending up to finish. Dried substance and some iridescence inside.
