Headdress3098/4

Rigid fabric headdress, from a Hungarian dance costume. Headdress is made of light blue silk covering a rigid support, peaked at centre top, narrowing at the edges where a strip of thin elastic joins the ends together at back. The outer side has looped patterns made of brown metal thread with flecks of gold. Tubular glass beads make a zigzag pattern along the top edge.

Carved and painted seal headdress. Headdress is a rounded triangular shape with a snub nose. Forehead and crown are grey. Thick black bands outlined in white form eyebrows over shallow white hollows meeting above nose. Eyes are black circles ringed by a black circle and a rounded red arrow. Nose is grey with thin red curls for nostrils. Carved red lips outlined in white over grey cheeks. Ribbed black cloth and rough cotton strips hang down back of mask. Plastic headgear attached to interior.

Carved and painted cod headdress. Headdress is triangular in shape. Background is red with a broad black V outlined in white running from back of head to mouth. Raised eyes formed from black circles and black and red rings rest in middle of shallow white hollow. Mouth is a long carved line outlined with broad black and thin white lines. Eyes are black half circles with white inverted Cs outlined by rounded red arrowheads resting on shallow white hollows. Mouth formed by wide red lips and carved hollow painted with large pointed white teeth over red background. Red loops for nostrils sit above mouth. Separate fin with a rounded square hole in the middle attaches to top of headdress. Two long rectangular fins decorated with red and white detailing are attached to each side. Smooth black cloth and rough cotton strips hang down back of headdress. Plastic headgear attached to interior.
