Inkwell3000/4

Round ceramic inkwell has a small circular base below a large plate decorated with encircling lines of gold and green paint, and a scalloped rim. At its concave centre is a round pedestal of concentric circles, flaring out at top where a metal and ceramic lid opens on a metal hinge, revealing a deep inkwell inside. Pedestal is also painted with lines of green and gold.

Brown earthenware inkwell (parts a-c) shaped as a monk with hands folded in prayer. Lower part (part a), waist to feet, has perforated disk at top; central section (part b) is upper torso with brown cloak outspread; top section is head (part c), with the neck functioning as a stopper.

Bulbous form with high narrow foot and constricted neck; has fine rings incised around top, middle and bottom of mid-section. Lid which screws into neck is decorated with a woman's head.
