Short shirt of yellow fine silk with outer front facings and wrist bands made of burgundy silk, fastened with ties of red silk, doubled and sewn on the inside. The left side laps over the right side to tie. Ties are attached with coarse stitches of green thread. Lining and neck facing are fine white ramie.

Light leather jacket with fringe. The jacket has no collar, long cuffed sleeves and centre opening with black plastic buttons. There are two large pockets on the lower front with serrated edges and sewn horseshoe motif. The cuffs also have serrated edges and sewn horseshoe motif. On the front and back yokes are leather bands with cutout diamond motifs. On the upper front, back and sleeves is a thick fringe. The inside is unlined.

Kimono JacketN2.1026

Orange and black haori (羽織) or jacket/overcoat. The upper portion has white karajishi (唐獅子, literally ‘Chinese lions’), mythological animals based on lions and keman-mon (毛卍文, lion’s curly hair patterns) motifs as the symbol of the sun on black ground. The lower portion has black peony motifs on a resist-dyed orange and white ground. There is a wide band around the neck and down the centre opening. There are black ties on the inside of the centre opening. The short, wide sleeves have an opening under the arms. The upper inside is lined with orange silk.

Kimono JacketN2.213 a

Man's haori (羽織) or jacket/overcoat with small check pattern paired with kimono (N2.213 b). The neck and centre opening are edged with a wide patterned band. The sleeves are short with hanging panels and an opening under the arms. The pattern has small white squares on brown ground. The patterned inner lining known as gaku’ura (額裏) is light brown silk with a river scene in black and covers only the upper part of the haori.

White jacket with long, extended sleeves, belt loops and cotton body with metal snap fasteners. The sleeves have embroidered five-toed dragon, fire and mountain motifs in brown, silver, white, black and red on white ground. The cuffs have a mountain motif in silver and brown. The inside lining is white cotton.

Dark purple jacket with rounded neck, wide sleeves and centre opening with brass frog closures. There are slits in the sides and back. On the front, back and sleeves are dragon, cloud and tree peony motifs in gold, pink, orange and yellow on dark purple ground. The borders around the sleeves and bottom hem have ju-i head scrolls with bat and shou motifs in gold and pink on a blue ground. There are mirrors and green glass eyes on the front, back and sleeves. The inside lining is yellow linen.

On the sleeves are chrysanthemum, butterfly and prunus motifs. On the back are bird, fu dog, peony and prunus motifs. There is gold braid around the edges. There are green glass eyes, tin reflectors and white fur on the front and back. The inside lining is natural-coloured linen.

There is black and gold trim around the edges of the sleeves and bottom hem. The inside lining is yellow linen.
