Komon (小紋) that is open at the front, with sleeves of hanging panels with small openings for the wrists at the top. Made of patterned silk with evenly spaced sets of metallic gold threads running vertically. The garment is heavily dyed in triangular patterns in shades of blue and purple, interspersed with areas of light yellow. Embroidered below the waste and on the backs of arms and shoulders are yellow and orange-brown flowers with vines tied in bows. The interior of the garment is fully lined with bright red and blue silk.

Furisode (振袖) made of patterned orange silk, double lined in red, pink and orange silk through body, lapel and sleeves. The kimono displays bunches of large flowers and leaves in an off-white colour, with delicate green veins and gold paint trim, across most of the garment. Printed on top of these are decorative emblems with trailing ropes in a variety of colours, emphasized with gold paint and gold metallic wire. The robe is open at the front, with long hanging panels draped from the sleeves. Panels are open toward the body to show the double lining, with a small opening for the wrists at top.

Uchikake (打掛) made of black silk, heavily embroidered with metallic fibre made of gold-leaf-wrapped mulberry paper and other colourful threads. Designs include carts full of flowers of four seasons known as hanaguruma mon (花車文), butterflies and long vines. Scattered among these are thin horizontal rectangles as well as large squares, some containing flowers. The interior is fully lined with bright red fabric. The kimono is open at the front, with short paneled sleeves containing a small opening for the wrists at top outer corner. The garment’s bottom hem is thickened with stuffing known as fuki (袘).

Kimono Underwear2723/1 h

Nagajuban (長襦袢) is a full-length kimono underwear. This nagajuban has a date eri (伊達襟, detachable collar) hand-sewn onto it. Ivory-coloured lightweight robe has a blue and red floral collar stitched on, and a patterned fabric sash, stitched on at the back.

Yellow, patterned-silk woman's kimono with a white lining edged in pink. Large daisies with pink centres and green leaves, highlighted with gold and silver, are painted onto the fabric. Three metal snaps are sewn onto the inner collar.

Uchikake (打掛) with gold, burgundy, blue, green, peach, yellow and brown embroidered designs and a red lining. Design elements include auspicious motifs such as cranes, pine trees, Japanese plum blossoms and the woven patterns on a heavy, creamy white fabric are family crests or kamon (家紋) known as kikkō ni hanabishi (亀甲に花菱), a small diamond-shaped flower motif in turtle shell pattern. The red lining curls up around the bottom of the white fabric to create a thick roll-like ruff known as fuki (袘).

Dark blue uchikake (打掛) with many embroidered squares. The neck and centre opening are edged with a wide blue band. The sleeves are short with long hanging panels and an opening under the arms. On the front, back and sleeves are embroidered squares. Each square has a rounded top and a different motif. The motifs include towers, bamboo, waves, birds, flowers and leaves in predominantly gold, green, brown, yellow and orange on dark blue ground. The inner lining is red silk and padded with cotton in some places known as fuki (袘).

Black kimono with pattern. The pattern consists of garden scenes with many flowers in white, yellow, orange and purple on a black ground. There is a wide patterned band around the neck and partway down the centre opening. There is a long patterned tie sewn to the centre back. The short, wide sleeves have an opening under the arms. The inside is lined with green silk.
