Two skirt panels, vertical orientation. The panels are blue silk with a pattern of flowers and vines. The centre portion is tightly pleated. The bottom left half is embroidered with birds, flowers, leaves, and a butterfly. An elaborate embroidered border accompanies the scene. The tops of the panels are made of light coloured cotton, with fabric clothing attachments. The rear left third of each panel is lined with a darker blue silk. Part ‘a’ has a partial black stamp in the front top left corner. The panels are almost identical in construction and embroidery. Colours are light blue, light yellow-white, green, pink, yellow, purple, light brown, blue and black.
Orange vertically rectangular silk panel with embroidery image, adhered to paper. The paper covers the entire back of the panel, and the front edges. Embroidery shows a human figure wearing a long blue robe with pants underneath, and a purple and green scarf at wrists and down legs. The figure also wears an elaborate headdress, and is barefoot. A peacock is behind the figure, with head to the left and tail feathers to the right. The two are surrounded by oval embroidered shapes on top and both sides. Couching in gold wrapped thread; embroidery in green, dark blue, light brown, brown, purple, light blue, gold and yellow.
Vertically rectangular panel with embroidered scene, sewn into a blue fabric frame. The scene is embroidered onto dark green silk? and shows performers engaged in various activities. At top left, a group in masks and a dragon costume climb a stack of chairs. Nearby musicians and spectators watch and one points. In the lower left are drummers and gong players. The lower right shows a dragon dance. Intermingled are trees and foliage. The blue silk frame has pink designs in the weave. The panel is backed with bright pink cotton. Colours are dark green, blue, pink, white, orange, grey, brown and red.
Two orange embroidered panels, mounted onto vertically rectangular blue panels, stitched together. The embroidered images on the orange panels are virtually identical, but reversed. Each panel has a phoenix in flight at bottom, and a dragon at top. Most of the dragon and parts of the phoenix, and other areas on the panels, are embroidered with metallic fibre. The two creatures are accompanied by a gold and blue cage-like structure, foliage, flowers, and decorative motifs. The orange panels have a thin blue and white boarder slightly inset from the edges. The blue mounting panels have a pattern in the weave of the cloth. The blue panels are attached by wide stitching at top, middle and bottom. They are backed by green cotton sewn onto each side separately.
Long yellow, vertically rectangular, narrow panel. Embroidered scene on bottom half of two people in a boat, on water. The boat is hung with lanterns and one of the figures propels it with a stick. The other figure stands in the middle of the boat under a canopy. Also in the scene are trees and vegetation, clouds, two buildings and a bridge. Panel is folded at both ends; partial stamp in bottom rear fold, to the left. Embroidery colours are green, blue, red, pink, white, dark brown and brown.
