Pendant998/2

Heart-shaped pendant with central red coloured beaded circular design outlined in white beads and surrounded with thick row of black, red and blue bands of beading. Pendant is attached to single strand of beaded fibre. Starting from one edge of the heart-shape pendant, beads are ordered in the following colour sections: white, brown, green, blue, red and white (near the top). At the bottom of the heart are four short strands of yellow, orange and green beads.

Wide hand opposed with flipper, relatively flat in cross-section and strung on a leather thong which is tied in two places. The thong passes through a hole drilled, side to side, at constriction between hand and flipper. Hand has channels delineating fingers and flattened fingernails. Flipper is angled along edge and has five channels covering the surface. A series of characters and '2-20432' are inscribed on bottom.

Oval face with pointed chin, flat on back with double hole on back for hanging. Long, sculptured nose in highest relief. Protruding lips, brow line, and cheeks are in slightly lower relief. Oval eyes with incised, round centres. Mottled green stone is lighter along centre in areas of highest relief. Syllabics incised on back (KU-PA-PI).

Light orange shell? pendant cut into the shape of a bird's silhouette with a back swept crest on top of its head and a circular, tongue-like protrusion coming out of its open beak. Its round eye is an inlayed greenish stone or shell. Neck and wing details are incised. There is a hole drilled through the body below the wing.

Pendant composed of a rectangular piece of metal with low relief design with six hearts, and a border of repeating sets of four circles with lines of small dots at the edges. At the centre there are also five pieces of glass in claw settings, two red and three green, symmetrically arranged and interspersed with the heart shapes. Two loops at the top with a star-like pattern on each. Bottom edge has a loop at the centre and one corner. Backed by a separate plain pad of silver.

Engraved, gold plated pin converted to a pendant. Design has an irregular outline. In the centre of the pin is an inverted shield shape with a small ring at the proximal end. A curvi-linear shape, with bilateral symmetry, extends across the centre of this inverted shield. The design is abstract. Two sets of engraved lines parallel the edges of these two components creating a decorative finish. The back has a flat finish.

Pendant in the shape of a stylized human figure (hei tiki) with geometric patterns. The figure's head is tilting to its right. The circular eyes are inlaid with abalone (paua). The figure's right arm is at its waist while the figure's left arm is at its face. The legs are crossed. Four holes are bored through the figure, two at the arms and two at the legs. An off-white cord threads through the two arm holes; the cord closes with an ivory screw clasp.
