Rounded silk case (part a) with a carved ivory toothpick inside (part b). Cloth case is orange and off-white outside, blue inside.
Pick made with a wooden, cylindrical shaped handle that tapers to a pointed end. The pick is a large, cylindrical shaped bone that is incised with a band of triangular designs. The end has been carved into a point. The two pieces are attached together by tightly woven thin strips of fibre.
Deer bone pick which is long and narrow, tapered to a pointed tip. Small carved quetzal bird, in profile at top, has incised comb on head and incised eye, both painted light red. Faint green lines probably indicate tail feathers. Rest of pick is natural bone.
Metal pick with a tapered, pointed on end and a cast figure of a woman in a dress carrying a child on her back.
Straight pick with a tapered point at each end made from mottled brown walrus tusk (possibly fossilized). Pick is bound to a straight handle of brown walrus baculum with rawhide lashings.
Set of four hair pin-like objects made from ivory. Parts a and b each have a small, roughly rectangular ivory piece with black characters on it near the top of the pick set at a right angle to the shaft; part b is also capped by a circular ivory piece. Parts c and d each have a small pink shell affixed near the top of the pick and black calligraphy on the shaft.
Small yellow jade pick with amber streak. Has a hole on one end for hanging. Finial is in form of t'ao-t'ieh motif.
