Sea Lion3412/1

Wall hanging of a silkscreen print, on burlap cloth. Sea lion is shown on its back, with flippers and head curved in towards centre where foreflippers held up. The burlap is attached to half of a dowel along both the top and bottom edges. A thin black cord is attached to the top for hanging. A Coastal Arts printed label is adhered to the reverse which gives the title, artist and biography.

Woodblock print on square, off-white paper. Close up of six dark red strands, outlined in black, woven together. Ten white, abstract designs on red strands. Designs are (from left to right, top to bottom): seven pointed star, figure inside of a circle outline, sun, four angular fish, pale yellow circle with lines curving out from it, three arrows overtop of a solid circle, large swirl, two wavy lines, circle with branch-like designs running through it, and half of a bird-like figure. Embossed leaf on a square in the bottom right corner of paper. Beneath the design are the edition number, 33/50, title, artist signature and year. All are handwritten in pencil. "43" and date are written upside on back of print, in the top right corner. Both handwritten in pencil.

Rectangular, dark yellow burlap cloth with printed images of two crooked beak masks on one side. Image of mask closest to the top is facing right side of cloth. Outlined in black, the mask has an open mouth. Interior of mouth is black with an olive green tongue. Underside of beak is bright red. Upper beak is olive green and has long, exaggerated nostrils with two large circular openings. Shape of nostrils outlined in black. Olive green-coloured rectangular frill extends from brow of bird to end of beak, curving over nostrils. Mask has small red eye, outlined in green, towards its left side, in the centre of a mustard-yellow circle. Black strands, outlined in bright red, underneath mask. Image of mask closest to bottom of cloth is facing left. Outlined in black, mouth of mask is wide, flat and open. Edges of beak are bright red and tongue is maroon. Beak has bright red, ovoid shaped nostrils. Black frill curves upwards from brow of mask and circles downwards to the tip of the beak. Frill has an olive green design, outlined in bright red. Interior circle of frill is bright green. A second frill, red and outlined in black, curves downwards from bottom of beak, from the tip to the base. Frill has a green ovoid design on it. Mask has wide black eyes outlined in bright red. Brow is black. Four square ridges overtop of brow, outlined in black. Interior of each ridge is bright red. Black strands, outlined in bright red, underneath mask. Cloth edges are unhemmed.

Silkscreen print of Union Jack flag with formline designs and text inside of it. Print is done in dark blue, red and grey ink, in landscape orientation, on off-white paper. All text and formline designs are done in grey ink. Multiple formline designs in dark blue portions of flag. Bird designs in red X section. Moon(?) and fin(?) designs inside red cross, along with text. In the left arm “Responsibility – For” is printed and “What – Happened” is printed in the right arm. In the white outlines of the cross and X words are printed. “Take” is written on top of the left arm and “Colonization” is printed along the bottom. “Acknowledge” is written on top of the right arm and “Thief” is printed along the bottom. “Genocide” is printed on the left side of the top arm and “Rape” is printed on the right side. “Greed” is printed on the left side of the bottom arm and “Murder” is printed on the right side. Beneath the flag the edition, 6/10, artist name and year are handwritten in pencil.
