Sarong3333/2

Batik sarong with a floral and peacock pattern over a pattern of diamond and concentric square pattern. A section of diagonal bands with floral designs alternating between bands of solid green and thin vertical red and white stripe pattern. Composed of one piece of fabric stitched together at the ends. Maker's name is at the edge of the design (Tan Ping Thian?). Smudged stamp applied on both sides, in dark ink.

Woman's Sarong3057/1

Cotton sarong, tubular in construction with long ends sewn together. Garment is made of four pieces of fabric sewn together: a thin strip of unnbleached cotton is at one end, followed by a red stripe, then a wide centre panel of thin green and black stripes, and a strip of yellow embroidery covered by geomentirc designs in black, with green, pink and white embellishments. Small white and black motifs lead from the yellow area onto a red stripe which ends the piece.

Woman's Sarong3056/3

Woman’s sarong. Thick panels on long sides are a blue green, while centre is densely patterned with lines of various thicknesses and colours, the thickest being black and green-white, and the thin ranging in colour from white, to black, green, red and pink. Selvedge is a dark green. Short ends have been roughly cut, resulting in a short, frayed fringe.

Man's Sarong3056/2

Man’s sarong. Fabric background is dark green, densely covered in thin lines of white. Dark red stripes are slightly inset on long edges and two run down centre. The green is covered by dense lines of white. Long edges have a light green selvedge, and short edges are roughly cut, resulting in a short fringe.

Long rectangular cloth with dark blue bands above and below a series of striped bands in red, green, blue, white and yellow. Lower dark blue band is decorated with white and red beadwork in diamond pattern. Ends of sarong have colourful tassles. Wedding sarong (tapis). Two panels of hand spun, natural dyed cotton are stitched together with a long centre seam. The edge at one end has a folded hem, the other edge is finished with a basting stitch. Hand loomed cloth has stripes of red, brown and yellow with mirror work and embroidery embellishment.
