Celt. (adze?) (in pencil). Locality: Quartermaster Harbor, Vashon Island, Wash. Remarks: Site 11.* *Information comes from original accession ledger.
Green adze blade. According to accession data, this artifact was recovered from the Allyn IV site by Mr. Buding who lived on the property. Mr. Buding apparently donated this artifact to the Burke Musuem just after John Winterhouse surveyed the site. A description of the Allyn area can be found in, "A Report on An Archaeological Survey on Lower Puget Sound" by John Winterhouse, Jr., 1948 (See Burke Archives or UW Manuscripts and Archives Division). Canoe chisel. Locality: Washougal, Washington.* Monolithic adze, with pestle-shaped handle and spatulate cutting edge in one piece. Found at Washougal, Clark County, Wa. *Information comes from original accession ledger.
Flat mattock or adze blade, full groove near pall (sic?). Locality: Saturna Is., Gulf Is., off S.E. coast of Vancouver Is. Remarks: Igneous.* *Information comes from original accession ledger.
Nephrite adze blade. Locality: Totten Inlet-near Tacoma.* *Information comes from original accession ledger.
Jade adze.* Accn File: No additonal information about object in accn file. D. Hogerhuis, 2/10/1993. Adze is chipped along opposite side of manufacture groove. There are also small chips along the grooved side. *Information is from the original accession ledger.
Flat, rounded pebble, triangular in cross section. Terminates in fracture scar at one end, tapers at the other. Tapered end is bifacially flaked (sharpened) edge. Two of edges along length of object show abrasive wear; third edge (and adjacent surface) exhibit pitting, suggestive of battering.
Irregular angular edges around 3 sides. Fourth is straight and smooth. Sharpened.
